It was the same nightmare as before. Always the same one. Though I didn't witness everything when it happened, both versions were seared into my memory like a hot brand.
------------------------------------------------------
16 years ago on Mt. Lobori, a shadow darts up the mountain to a window in the side overlooking the ocean separating Alomeria from all other continents, climbing into it unnoticed, despite the bright shine of the full moon, into the room of a young infant sleeping peacefully in her crib. Glancing at the child with a ravenous hunger and glowing golden eyes, he swiftly moved to the door, stepping into the dimly lit hallway with the belief of nothing else being there.
Sensing nothing, the creature silently moves forward, careful not to wake the inhabitants of the mountain fortress, unlikely as that may be, when he heard the sound of shuffling feet, and the yawn of a young boy. The boy was of small stature, with bright green eyes and wild brown/black hair that hung over his eyes. The Shadow noticed the look of the boy's eyes, and the evident fire there showing that the child would be a gifted warrior when he grew, but for now, he was nothing but a problem.
"Leave now boy, I'm in a rush" in a deep, rumbling growl that sounded more than animal.
The child stumbled backwards in surprise, terror written on his face "who are you?"
"That is not your concern. Mostly due to you being DEAD!!!"
At that time, the shadow lunged into the light, revealing a form like a giant wolf with jet black fur, pounced and bit into the boy's head, biting into his right eye as the boy stumbled back, putting his hand up in a vain attempt to protect himself and stop the bleeding. Mere moments after, the boy's parents emerged into the hall in their night clothes, the man armed with a large silver blade with something inscribed on the blade. Before they could react, the beast attacked Mrs. Lycano, knocking her to the floor as he tore into her flesh until he felt the bite of silver in his side, recovering quickly he glared at the sir, blood dripping from the sword in his hands
"So, you CAN bleed. Good."
"You won't get a second chance"
"Don't need one"
Hefting the blade into a defensive posture, the experienced hunter prepared for anything but what happened next. Dashing with supernatural speed, the shadow slammed into the knight, forcing him to the ground as a loud crash was heard and a platoon of soldiers poured in, all bearing silver weapons.
"Consider this a mercy"
Rather than speak, the man spat in the monster's face, just before sharp teeth sank into his neck, draining him of his blood and strength, killing him. The beast stood up then, blood smearing his now human like face, and ran back to his entry point, snatching up the baby girl from her crib with his teeth, passing on his curse for the second time that night, and disappeared into the night, leaving only death, and the wails of the infant.
That night I took an oath. I swore to avenge my family. I became his biggest threat, and he knows it. He knows I'm hunting him down, he KNOWS I will find him. And he's scared. Because only a Wolf can catch a Wolf.
