Darkness. That’s all there was, from the very beginning. Darkness, and the realisation that there were others, maybe even hundreds of others here, all like me. All stuck in the same situation.

Then came the realisation that I just realised something.

It was in this state I remained. Who knows how long for.  I didn’t know time. I didnt know what the meaning of life was. I didn’t even know if there was an ‘I’.

But all of that changed, soon enough. With a jolt, the darkness moved, and I felt shrinking into the presence of the ‘others’. It was in this state of limbo we returned to again. There was movement, stillness and movement again. Finally, lo and behold, the unthinkable happened. Light. Light, pouring into the darkness, chasing it into the furthest corners of existence.

Shifting again, before a new sensation came to be. Sliding to the egde of the source of the light, then nothingness. No other presence besides me, put a kind of pull, downwards.

With a slight ‘chink’ sound, the nothingness came to an end. I was on solid ground, with presence all around me. The presence was filled with vibrations- a low rumble and a high pitched vibration, made from some unknown creature. None of the ‘others’ were near me, however their vibration of ‘chinks’ from above could be sensed. I took comfort in these ‘chinks’ knowing that I am not alone, feeling a kind of attachment towards the unknown ‘others’.

CRUNCH

No, no surely it couldn’t be…

CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH

Just as wind blows a flame from existence, this sound CRUNCHED out the presence of the ‘others’.

The realisation that I wouldn’t be able to realise for much longer came as the last of the ‘others’ was diminished.

Silence.

Stillness.

Sudden vibrations, moving ever closer…

Pressure from above…

CRUNCH!

-nothingness-

“MUMMY!” The young girl shrieked, “Muuuum! I just stood on this cornflake. Does that mean I’m a cereal killer?”
