Glaring, I pushed the too perfect male off of me. He had made my heart leap over to China and then, threatened to kill me. And not to mention, he had weird markings on his face! He didn't scream human at all!

Ignoring the confused glint in his eyes, I shouted, "who're you, and why do you want to kill me?!"

He narrowed his eyes, and the Setsuko woman shooed a confused Aoi out of the room. He leaned down to glare into my eyes, his anger rolling off in waves.

"What do you mean?" He hissed, making me flinch. Setsuko put a hand on his shoulder.

"You truly don't remember?" She asked calmly, trying to fix the situation.

I furrowed my brows, a sudden wave of melancholy hitting me, and I realized these desperate people knew me. And the way they were acting made it seem like I had shared many deep moments with them. What kind of injustice had I served by forgetting them?

'Haha, you forgot them? What a naughty demon girl. . .'

A certain demon's voice rang in the back of my head. It was the spider. How could he speak in my mind?!

I scrunched up my face, annoyance boiling at his unneeded comment.

"Star?" Setsuko brought me back to the present, and I snatched my head up to see the man still on the verge of killing.

"You were people from my life, weren't you?" I mumbled, my eyes shining with the warning of tears. Setsuko's eyes widened as the man let out a frightening, gutteral growl. I flinched, not expecting that from a human. But he wasn't human, was he?

"Well, I know one thing," determination lined my features. They turned back expectantly, "I made a promise to protect those important to me, and that includes both of you. A part of me feels our connection, so this once, please excuse my injustice in forgetting our memories. I will do my best to recall them." I bowed, the silence making me shift uncomfortably.

"You really did forget everything." Setsuko spoke, the amusement in her voice confusing me. I looked up.

"Am I not the same?" I asked. She chuckled.

"The same?" She laughed. "Not by a long shot." She added, the wrinkles on her wizened face becoming more prominent as she smiled. During our banter, I didn't notice the man had stormed off, slamming the door behind him. I looked at Setsuko questioningly. She shrugged.

"He's more upset than you think. You've probably done him worse. I would go try and calm him down." She winked, shooing me out of the office. I stood there, taking in his scent. It was so familiar, and it gave me a nostalgic feeling. My heart yearned to see his eyes once more. I deduced this man was more than an acquaintance in life. However, I didn't quite have the nerve to confront him. He did threaten to kill me, after all. But I needed to protect what was precious to me, and this man fit the mark. I needed to console him.

Sniffing the air, I followed his scent up the next flight of stairs, passed various classrooms, and up to the roof. I surveyed the perimeter, holding up my hand to block out the setting sun. I didn't see him, but I knew he was up here. Walking to the edge, I heard a soft thud and turned to see he had jumped down from the top of the wall where the door was. As he made his way over, I couldn't read his expression but felt a hint of aggravation in his eyes. They were a startling gold, taking me in and drowning me in folds of deep yellow and orange. I hadn't realized I was backing away until my foot hit the ledge. I stopped and looked up to see him right in front of me, staring down at me with a conflicted expression.
