5 Years Before
Mackenzie's POV
I was crying, head down in my bed, door locked. I couldn't believe he had to go, this was my worst nightmare. I got up, looked out my window, and saw him. "Mac! Come on! I'll be back in no time." He yelled to me, dressed up in his camo pants, and white T-Shirt. He was going to Army training camp. I just stared down at him with my tear stained face, staining with more tears every second.
"Mac. Please?" He kept saying to me. "Donut cry, just come down here." No, he was trying to cheer me up, by making a pun with my favorite food, donuts. I walked away, walked down the stairs, wiped my tears and stared at the door. After a few seconds on debating whether to go out or not, I did. He ran up and wrapped me in his big arms. "You'll be okay, I'll be back soon, and we can have one of your favorite Donut and Icecream movie nights. Okay?" I didn't reply, I just put my head into his shoulder and sobbed. "Don't go Tylar." I pleaded.
"As much as I hate this, I have too! I'm Sorry." I pulled away, and stared at him, tears dripping on my T-Shirt.
"But this was YOUR choice Tylar, yours!"
"I know, I know, but this is what I want, I'll be in training for about 10 weeks, then go to war. Nothing will happen I promise."
"What if it does? What if something does happen?"
"Then I will come back and be by your side." We hugged for what seemed like hours, and said our goodbyes.
"Let's go Tylar, the bus is leaving in 30 minutes." His dad said calmly and he finished putting the bags in the car.
I stood outside, on the grass separating our driveways. He was gone, off for years. I might never see him again.

My phone went off, it was Ella, my best friend, and Partner in Crime (Crime meaning School).
Ella: Hey, I heard what happend? Are you okay?
I didn't really want to talk to anyone at this point, but I guess I better.
Me: I've been better I guess. I just feel like a wreck right now. He choose career over friends and family!
Ella: Just think of it as this: He is helping everyone by fighting for our country.
Me: Okay, but I don't get to see him and that breaks my heart.
Ella: I know what will cheer you up, let's go shopping at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets and get some donuts after, I'll pick you up at 4:00.
Me: Okay, Fine.
I set my phone down and looked through my closet even though it was only 1:30. I figured I probably needed to freshen up, so I walked across the hall and took a 'quick' 30 minute shower. After that, I put on some light makeup and settled on wearing a Maroon and White crop top, with some high waisted shorts. It was 2:57 by now. "Honey, do you want some money before you go?" My mom asked as I walked past the kitchen, into the living room.
"Sure, but you don't have too." I replied stopping in my tracks and going into the kitchen.
"Here's $50, I have to go drop your brother off at Mikes house, so I'll see you get back."
"Okay, bye mom." I replied as she walked out the door.
"And be back by 11:00!" She yelled.
I just laughed and walked back into the living room. Time went by fast as I watched re-runs on 'Fuller House' and soon it was 4:00.

Ella: I'm heeerreeee!
Me: Okay, coming out
I grabbed my purse and walked out the door, being summer I of course didn't need my coat.
"How's Macaroni doing?"
"I'm doing much better. C'mon start the car! Lets go!"
