Chapter 2

Ella P.O.V
I was awoken by pounding on my door. What in the world it's only 3am. I jolted up and walked to the door
"I swear Jacob if it's you I'm gonna shoot you in the eye" I said. I opened the door but it was the guy from earlier that I ran into. He's actually really attractive but he reeked of alcohol.
"Hey I'm sorry about yesterday" he slurred his eyes were blood shot red
"Um it's alright" I said. I stood their. It was super awkward. All of a sudden he started crying, tears streaming down his face. Um what should I do. Do I hug him? I'm not good in these situations.
"Are y-you alright!?" I asked he pulled me into a tight hug
"My girlfriend and I got into a fight" he cried even harder. I patted his back
"It's going to be alright. I'll um go talk to her" I said I got out of his tight grip and put on my slippers. Should I change I probably look like a monster right now. My curly hair looks crazy, I'm in short shorts and a big shirt. Nah once I get back in the house I'm going right back to sleep. He grabbed my hand and pulled me next door. I knocked on the door
"Reece go away" I heard the girl say. So I'm guessing that's his name.
"It's your new neighbor" the door bursted open
"Oh I'm so sorry I thought you were my boyfriend" she said
"It's alright. Hi I'm Ella. I don't know what happened between you and Reece but please take him back into your home. He's drunk as a skunk" I said. Reece walked up behind me. As soon as she saw him the door slammed shut in my face.
"I'm taking that as a no" I shouted at the door. He started crying again
"You can stay at my place for the night if you want" I offered I feel bad for him. He pulled me in for another tight hug
"Thanks......" he slurred and looked at me.
"Ella" I said
"Ella" he repeated. I helped him back into my apartment and layed him down on the couch. I gave him a pillow and a blanket. I placed a glass of water and advil on the table for him when he wakes up. He grabbed onto my wrist and pulled me into him
"Lay with me" he said resting his head on my shoulder. I laughed but it was more like an awkward laugh
"Um no" I got out of his grip and ran back to my room and locked my door just in case. There is a random stranger in my home and he is hammered
I finally got to lay down in my bed and go back to sleep.
I woke up around 10am. Reece was laying down motionless on the couch. I ran over to his side. And felt his pulse.
"What are you doing" he asked making me jump
"Oh god I thought you were dead" I fell out on the floor. He took the medicine I had placed on the table.
"Thanks Ella for letting me sleep on the couch and putting up with me and all" he said scratching the back of his neck.
"That's what neighbors are for" I said patting his back. I got out and started making breakfast. It was like something connected in his brain. His eyes shot open and he bolted out the door.
I finished making breakfast. I fixed eggs, bacon, and pancakes. I made two plates and served it with orange juice. I didn't notice Reece standing in the doorway reading a note. He loudly sighed, sat on the stool and slammed the note on the counter top and slid the note over to me.
It said:
Dear Reece,
I'm sorry but I'm breaking up with you. Your drinking is getting out of control and I can't take it anymore. Don't worry I took all of my belongings out of your apartment.

"Oh my. I'm so sorry" I said. He didn't say anything he just ate. I silently sat beside him and began eating. After I finished I got dressed.
"Let's get going Reece" I said
"I'm not going anywhere" he said
"Oh yes we" I got cut off when my phone began ringing it was Jacob. I hurried up and answered it
Hi obby I shouted into the phone
Hello my darling. I'm still taking you out today he said
Yup We'll go out after I get back in the house I'm going to run some errands I said
Alright I'll see you then he said and hung up.
"Boyfriend?" Reece asked I laugh snorted
"Oh no ha no that was my best friend" I said grabbing my keys he just shook his head
"You're not gonna be a sad, depressed, grumpy little puppy we're going to see your beloved Julia" I said
"No" he growled
"Yes we are if you don't talk to her nothing will be solved" I said. He shot me a death glare. Talk about grumpy. And I see he's back to himself
"Just Stay out of it I can do this on my own" he growled again. I stood on the counter so I could look down to Reece
"Listen you grumpy child. At three am when you came pounding on my door I got involved in this mess and when you cried in my arms. She's not going to talk to you that's why you have to let me talk to her first. Now let's get going!" I jumped down off the counter
"Did I really cry?" He asked. And he was blushing. I nodded. He just layed back down on the couch
"Come on Reece now" I snapped
"No" he calmly said. Ella it's alright don't scream at him. I ran into my room and face planted on my bed and screamed. I calmly walked back into the family room with a big smile on my face.
"Let's try this again. Reece get up and let's go please" I asked
"No" he said again
"GET YOUR BUTT UP NOW BEFORE I DRAG YOU BY YOUR EAR!" I screamed at him, hitting him with pillows
"All you had to say." He smiled at me getting up. I grabbed my purse and walked out the apartment with Reece close behind
"Cute and feisty" I heard him whisper
"I can hear you and I'm not feisty"
"Oh dear yes you are" he smirked at me
"Well you're grumpy" I snapped
"I knew that all my life" he smiled at me. OMG HE SMILED he actually smiled
"So if she isn't here where else would she be?" I asked
"At her step brothers house" he replied. We got into his car.
"So Ella where are you from?!" He asked me suddenly
"Oklahoma" I said
"How'd you figure I wasn't from here" I asked
"Well you look super nervous and confused because we're driving on different sides, you almost got into the driver seat which you'd call this side the passenger seat" he said laughing at me
"Hush" I said looking out the window. We finally pulled up to the house. I ran up to the front door and knocked. Some cute guy opened the door he had green eyes, black hair and a sharp jawline and was built. Reece elbowed me, knocking me out my thoughts.
"Hello I'm Ella and we're here to see julia" I said
"Well come on in beautiful" he said and WINKED AT ME. I turned to look at Reece
"Go wait in the car" I told him
"I'm not leaving you in here with this guy" he said pushing me in the house.
"Julia you have guests" the guy shouted
"Send them up" she screamed back
"You wait here" I told Reece and went upstairs
Reece P.O.V
This is a stupid idea. Andrew, Julias step brother took a seat beside me.
"Is Ella your girlfriend or something" he asked me
"Yes she is" I responded
"Got a nice butt on her. You're lucky man" he said patting me on my back. What a jackass? If I didn't know any better I'd punch him right in the jaw. Ella shortly came downstairs but her bright smile was long come and replacedwith a frown. She came over to me
"Let's go" she said avoiding eye contact
"So soon" Andrew pitched in he wrote his number on a piece of paper and handed it to her
"Until next time beautiful" he said winking at her. I almost wanted to gag
"Until next time" she smiled but I could tell she was forcing it. Her smile didn't reach her eyes.
Ella P.O.V
Should I tell him now or wait. I think I should wait until we get back. I can't our conversation out of my head we had and how she kept making moves on me and it was just so awkward. I don't want him to get upset while driving. Once we got in the car I avoided eye contact the whole time and just kept my attention to the road. If I looked at him I might tell. We finally got to the complex. I jolted out of the car and sprinted up to my apartment not waiting from him. Once I walked in I fell on the floor and just laid there.
"Spill it" Reece said walking in
"We were up there talking and she explained everything to me and why she ended!" I said really fast
"And why is that!?" He asked getting closer to me
"She swings for the other team. She tried making moves on me that was almost as awkward as my 5th grade chorus concert" I said covering my face at the thought of that awful memory. I shall never speak of it
"You're a real catch. You attract guys and girls" he said and started laughing
"What guy?" I asked
"Andrew" he chuckled
"REALLY OMG he is really hot. I should give him a call" I grabbed the paper he wrote his number on in my back pocket.
"No" Reece snatched it and ripped it into shreds
