"You know how many times I've heard the friend of a friend story?"

"I'm serious. Call the man up himself.", I tried my hardest to stay composed, stumbling over the Korean I hadn't spoken in years.

The receptionist raised an eyebrow at me. "Are you planning on wasting my time any longer, Miss?" She too was keeping her composure, though I could tell she was at the end of her rope with me. I was persistent and stubborn and people like me tend to have that effect on others.

"Call him.", I pressed on.

"He's a busy man. I'm sure you record company executives don't have ample time on their hands."

I tried to stay calm despite her attitude. "It'll only take a minute."

She glared as she reluctantly reached for the phone. She dialed the number slowly, out of spite, and pressed it to her ear. After what seemed like forever, the triumphant smirk was wiped off her face when it seemed someone had answered on the other end.

"H- I-...Yes, yes. I know, I know. Right now isn't the time. I know, but there's this girl here....how am I supposed to...alright." She covered the phone with one hand and turned back to me. "Name?"

"Is President Park on the line?", I asked. "Tell him about Executive Kang's daughter."

She rolled her eyes, before returning to the ca "Something about Executive Kang." Pause. "Yes, his daughter." After that, she went pale. "Oh? Oh. Alright, I'm sorry sir. Right away sir." She quickly hung up.

I didn't say anything but waited on her to address me. I actually hated relying on my father for things and I was practically kicking myself for doing it now, but I wasn't about to mess up my first day as an intern.

When she finally turned to me she swallowed. "I-Ill show you around."

"And this is the rec room." A half hour later and she was being unbearably kind to me. I realized I shouldn't never mentioned te whole Excecutive Kang situation to her when I hardly liked to remind myself of it myself.

"And what's my job exactly?"

She glared at me. "You're lucky you're in the position you are now. I wouldn't have hired you with that attitude, lemme tell you."

"Well, you aren't in charge of that, I'm pretty sure."

She laughed. "You won't last a minute in this job. Everyone else in your place quit."

"Well, if I knew what exactly it was I'd be doing I could decide for myself."

She rolled her eyes and we came to a stop at a closed door, the music playing could be heard blaring from the outside. "This,", she half yelled over the noise, "is your assignment."

She slowly turned the doorknob and when the door opened the volume of the music intensified. Inside was a group of guys, about six or seven, dancing in sync. I inhaled sharply. When my father said he was going to find me a job, I assumed he knew I wanted something low profile. By the way these guys were dancing, I knew that wasn't it. They were the real deal.

They kept up with their routine until of of the guys, he seemed like one of the younger ones, noticed us in the doorway. The music paused and he and the rest of the boys made their way over.

The secretary turned to me. "I'd like to introduce you to Got7."

The one who noticed us first came forward and bowed. "I'm Youngjae."

"Junior. But you can call me Jinyoung."

"Yugyeom."

"Jackson. Jackson Wang."

"I'm Mark. Nice to meet you."

"And I'm BamBam."

The six of them all took turns bowing and introducing themselves. Got7 didn't seem like a very fitting name. Bambam cocked his head to one side. "Are you our new stylist noona?"

"No.", I started. "I--"

"I've found you boy's a new nanny.", the secretary cut me off, sounding overly chipper.

"You're kidding, right?", huffed the one called Jackson. "We're all men here, yet you insist on treating us like children."

"It shouldn't kill you to act like it then.", said the secretary curtly. "Wait a minute. Where's JB?"

Oh, so whoever named this group could count after all.

Junior shrugged. "The bathroom? I don't even know."

She rolled her eyes for what seemed like the millionth time today then turned back to me. "I trust you know what to do. If they need anything, get it done. I'm off."

"Wait!", I called as she made her way out. No answer. Just the sound of he practice room door slamming. I sighed and turned back to face the boys.

"Ah, hey, we're not that bad. We don't bite. Jackson's more of a sniffer anyway.", said Mark. "We don't really need anything right now, we're just practicing choreography right now, so you can wait over there if you'd like." He pointed to a chair near the back of the room. His tone was sympathetic. I could tell he felt bad for me already. Great.

I gave a weak smile and went to go sit. The boys wasted no time getting back on track. The music started back up and they picked up where they left off, continuing the routine effortlessly.

I became immersed in their dancing after a while. It was clear that they put a lot of dedication into what they do but isn't that a given when you're an idol.

"And who are you?"

I jumped at the deep voice and looked over to see a tall figure standing next me me. I figured this must be the elusive JB.

"I, uh, I work for you guys now.", I tried my best to compose myself so it wouldn't be completely obvious that he had just scared me shitless.

He leaned his head back against the wall and gave a laugh that revealed a perfectly aligned set of teeth. A slight laugh that sounded a lot like "is she serious right now?". After he was done he returned his attention back to me, looking me up and down. "I meant do you have a name."

"Of course I do. It--"

"Red." One of his hands went to a section of my hair.

"Yes. I'm aware. I did dye it myself after all."

"No.", he murmured as he scrutinized my ends. "That's what we'll call you. Alright?"

I didn't see a point in arguing with him at the moment. And besides, I was more concerned with how odd it felt to have someone observe me as intently as he did. I didn't know what to make of him.

"Hyung, come join us." called Youngjae.

JB gave a nod and released my hair from on hand and my wrist from the other, the latter which I didn't even realize he'd been holding in the first place. "Don't get on anybody's bad side and do your job right and you might just last around here, Red."

He gave a slight smirk then went to go join his band mates as if he had never left.

I didn't know whether to feel intimidated or not, but regardless of how I felt I never let it show. I decided not to let an off putting encounter be the end all be all.

I was determined to "last".

Whatever that meant.
