“Miss, the East and West forts have been attacked, what do we do?” asked one of my generals
I thought about it for a moment, and nothing more, “Send reinforcements to the Eastern Fort while withdrawing from the West.”
“But what about the supplies stored in the Western Fort? Even if it does not contain any special gear it is still useful.”
Shooting my general a look, “I have been evacuating the civilians from the Western Fort, along with the necessary of supplies. We shall not gain anything by dying there, and as for the Eastern Fort still has people and things to protect, so we best help them while we can. Understand?” My tone left no room for compromise, and the Cavalry General left with haste.
“Must I do everything? I thought you said I was a just a symbol?”
“You may be a symbol,” began my old friend Siege, “but that doesn’t take away from your tactical powers. You’re good at it, even if you don’t want to admit it. And for a plus, as long as you stay back here you can keep up your goody-two-shoes image that you have going for you, my dear Green Maiden.”
I sighed, thinking about my ‘goody-two-shoes’ act. It truly was an act, considering in real life I was nothing like that, if fact I’d do nearly anything for trouble, but it was a necessity. The people rejoiced in having a good and beneficial ruler, one that always gave forgiveness (except in very rare cases), and thought of the people before herself. Pity that I had to fill that spot though. “You aren’t allowed to call me Green Maiden, remember? You just use it as a joke for my hair.”
Yes, my hair was light green, not uncommon in this world, especially after I started to get a name for myself. It went all the way down my back in open curls, landing gently at the bow of my even lighter green dress. Not many would wear a dress to a Faction Battle, but I wouldn’t be fighting anyways. I had darker green eyes, which many had told me had a ‘gentle’ look, though not many of them have seen me mad, then they turn fierce. My character’s appearance was meant to look sweet, so I kept her short and cute. I looked like I couldn’t fight a battle at all, but I was actually a better fighter than most of the people I knew.
Character? Yes, we’re playing in a game, since there haven’t been many real battles for years now, so, as an excuse for violence and other random things, EverLife was born. A game set in a world much less advanced than ours, where people fought with swords, bows, and magic. We were able to connect on to EverLife through sleep headsets, which basically put your real body in a state of sleep while your mind was in the game. All in all, the game was as beautiful as it was complex, and those were the two main qualities that brought me in. I was actually one of the original players, which made my rise to power a bit more realistic.
The Green Maiden was a title given to me after my team had won the Emperor's Tournament, a competition in the main continent for glory. When our group was given an area to control I was left in charge of it (Since even back then they convinced themselves that I was unable to fight.) and turned it into what began as a Faction. Factions were large groups of players that went together under one system. The Game had two main factions, The Green and The Red.
I’m in charge of The Green Faction, which I know has a very silly name as it’s a color, but I did not chose it, everyone else did. Our crest was a wreath of silver flowers on a green and white shield, and it was on nearly all armour for those inside the Faction. In game, and in the real world, it was pretty easy to tell who was part of which faction as they proudly wore the Faction’s colors. A fair amount of people would dress in all red or all green just for this reason, and it had actually began to start a few fights as I’ve been told.
The other Faction, The Red Faction, was our main enemy, for reasons I was still not entirely sure of, though I do know that they continue to attack our troops without much effort. It was infuriating, but not as infuriating as the leader of the Faction, the Red Beast. Yes, the leader of the Faction chose to name himself the Red Beast, for reasons unknown, and openly declared war with the Green Faction.
