Jannett Friar.

"Do you love me?" he asked, staring at my hazel brown eyes with his black ones. He touched my cheek softly. "Nathan, I.." I paused and slowly went near his face. It was only a few inches until his lips.

"And.. cut! That's all for today" the Directer finally said. I pushed him hard and he just chuckled. "That was close, sweetheart" he said in a teasing way. I gave him a glare. "Oh, shut your filthy mouth, Adam" I growl at him. He gave me a smirk in return. "With those lips? Oh, I will" he said teasingly, giving me a wink. I cringed. He chuckled one last time and left the studio.

"That cocky jerk" I muttered while fixings the things in my bag. I checked my make up kit, phone, everything. Everything seems to be here. I checked my watch to see that it's already 11:00 PM. Ugh, it's late. I need to go home. I was about to leave, when Xana, my manager called me. "Jannett! You have mail" she said, holding a white envelope.

"Where is it from?" I asked her. She shrugged. "I don't know, I just found it at the information desk" she answered. She gave me the envelope which I accepted. I examined it and thought of the possibilities. Maybe Adam? "Anyway, I'm gonna go. See you tomorrow" Diane waved goodbye and left the building, leaving me and only a few people inside.

I opened the envelope and saw what's inside. A note. I was about to get it when I saw a familiar figure entering the building. I put the note back inside and in my bag. I quickly smiled when I realized who it was.

"Ryan!" I ran to him and gave him a hug. "So how is my favorite actress today?" he asked in his usual happy voice. "Oh, the usual" I replied with annoyance. "Let me guess.." he paused. He made a gesture that looked like he's thinking. "Adam, the cocky jerk?" "Bingo!" I shout.

We laughed in union. "He's still bothering you?" he asked. I rolled my eyes. "Tell me about it" I answered. Then his face lit up. And smirked at me. "How about dating me?" he asked while wiggling his eyebrows. WHAT?! I slapped him in his arm hard and gave him a deadly glare.

"Did you really think I'll date my stepbrother?" I said with a sarcastic tone. He lowered his face into mine. "Yes" he whispered and stared at me. I stared at his ocean blue ones with my hazel ones with a surprised look. He never brought that kind of subject before. I noticed a few people already staring at us so I pushed him unconsciously which surprised me and Ryan.

"I-I'm so-sorry" I stutter and looked away, my cheeks becoming red. The aura was awkward when I heard Ryan laugh. I looked back and gave him a confused look. "I'm kidding" he said and raised his hands up. I slapped him in his arm hard. "Aw, that hurts" he said and held his arm. I smirked. "Good" I said and flipped my hair and started to leave the building.

"Hey, wait for me" he shout and ran to my direction. "I'll take you home" he said. "Okay" I blurted. His face showed a surprised one. "What?" I asked. "You-you're not going to decl-ine just lik-like other gi-girls?" he stutter. Huh. What did he think? "Why? Should I decline?" I answered him with a question with an innocent tone. "Nope, it's perfectly fine" he said with a genuine smile on his face. Uh, okay..

We headed out of the building and passed Mr. Gomez, the security guard. I smiled at him and he waved back. When Ryan and I made it to the parking lot, we found his car. Why not? It's the only car there. Employees don't usually have cars so yup.

We got in the car and put our seat belts on. Ryan started the engines and we're off.

The ride was silent. Ryan isn't usually like this. Maybe he's thinking about something or.. someone. That made me wonder, somebody might have caught my cold, arrogant step brother's heart. Yes, he's cold and arrogant, but he can be very playful once you get to know him. I know the struggle.

I went back to my senses when I heard Ryan said "We're here" and got out. I removed my seat belt and went out of the car with my bags. He was at the side of the car with his phone texting. I ignored him and went to the doorway of my house. My family and I live in separate ways. Why? I like being independent.

I opened the door with my key and noticed that Ryan was already at my back. We're only a few inches apart. I quickly moved back and blushed. Why do I feel this way with my freaking step brother? "Do you want to go in?" I asked shyly. He shook his head. "I'm gonna go. See you later, Jane" he waved goodbye and left. I froze.

Jane. That was my nickname. Was. Nobody called me that anymore. Until now. I sighed and went inside my home and closed the door. "Ugh, busy day as always" I mutter and went straight to my bedroom. I threw my bag at the couch and lay at bed. I lay at my back and stared at the ceiling.

Every night, I always thought of ending my showbiz life. I always wonder what it would like to live a life with no one following you, writing gossips about you, no cameras around you.. UGH. It's annoying. All the things I do for my family. But I just want a short break. At least for 2 months. So I always think of a way but it's always a failure. Only Xana knows about this because she's the only one I can trust. I sighed. It's not like a miracle would happen.

My thoughts were cut off by my phone ringing. I stood up and got my phone in my bag. It was a text message from Xana. "You can thank me later" that's what it said with a phone number. And a picture of a girl. And.. she looks like me. "Who's this? Why does she look like me?" I whispered to myself. Then it hit me.

I quickly dialed the number and saved the picture. Thank God for Xana! It kept ringing and ringing for a long time. "C'mon, answer it!" I shouted at my phone. It won't answer. I'm starting to lose hope. I sighed. I was about to end the call when I heard a female voice.

"Hello?"
