LUCAS POV
When I was asked to look after the chickens I didn't know what to think, if I agreed it would mean I had to leave the house. I'm not a stupid gamer-boy if that's what you're thinking, I just don't like the outdoors all the sun, the colors, the people, it just bothers me. So when my mother told our neighbors I would be happy to watch over their "feathered friends" as she called them, I was annoyed I went up to my all black and white room and grabbed my favorite book of horrors, the book had been a gift from my uncle when I turned ten. It was labeled by age with short bogey-man stories at the beginning and more in depth disturbing stories near the back, it was so large that even after having it for three years, I haven't finished it. I opened it to the back, a place my mother warned me not to read until I was as old as the label said. Ignoring her words I flipped to an interesting looking title and began to read. It was a good story, scary, original, and interesting, I took my pocket knife and made a small slit in my pointer finger before drawling four stars with my own blood. I let the cut bleed before taking some cleaning alcohol and dabbing my finger with it, I welcomed the stinging sensation and smiled before closing the book and lying down on my black comforter. I heard my mother call for me to start my studies(yes, I'm homeschooled) and I took my study book down from the shelf, I study history, mostly of our town and the supposed hauntings of houses and deaths of important people. I pick up where I left off, with our town founders death in a car crash. It was quite gruesome, and I make a mental note to go do a gravestone rubbing of it, when my mother drags me out of the house again. When my studies are finished I search what chickens eat 'cause if I'm going to look after them I might as well learn about them a bit, turns out they eat almost anything. Suddenly an idea comes into my head, a sick, disturbing, morbid, but none the less a fun one. After all if I'm stuck with this job I might as well make it fun.
