Jealousy At The Table

The group set out dinner at the HQ's dinning room.A long wooden table in a dimly lit room with full sized window panes on one wall,looking out  above the city.Misa,Matsuda and Light's father are all seated awaiting two more presences.L and Light walk in stopping the small talk among the three. "Finally" Misa murmurs loud enough for L to hear as he sits down next to her."I'm sorry if this dinner is more important than our investigation" he comments glancing at the food prepared. L turns away in disgust realising its cooked broccoli.Light also grimaces and exchanges glances with L. L reaches into his backpack and throws Light a packet of chips under the table. Light grins.
"What's so funny?" demands Misa.
Light clears his throat "nothing". The silence is heavy.
"Light,may I speak to you in private please?" asks L.
"Sure!" beams Light but then realising he said it a tad too enthusiastic he pulls his straight face. Misa rolls her eyes and sips her drink.She nods to Matsuda indicating that he should go and follow them.The chained pair walk off into the hallway.Matsuda leans agaisnt the wall besides the open door way out of sight."So I was thinking, would like to go catch a movie tonight?" asks L.
"Hm I don't know, what's in it for me" smirked Light.
"Guess you'll find out " says L slowly with a sly grin. Matsuda raises his eyebrows questionably."We should head back and tell them we're going to investigate a suspect or something" says Light. Matsuda hears his voice become louder so he darts back into the dinning room and onto his chair. L and Light walk in, they go over to grab their things. "Where are you two heading out?" asks Light's father casually clearing up his plate.
"Well L believes there was a Kira incident so we're going over to question a suspect" says Light."When where you planning on informing me about this?" huffs Mr Yagami.
"Well we didn't want you to believe false hope, there is only a slight chance with this suspect" interrupted L "we'll be back at 10". As the two go down the lift and exit the building Matsuda beckons Misa to a private area. "Well! What did you hear?"  questions Misa.
"L asked Light out if they wanted to go watch a movie now, they figured up a lie to tell everyone.
"Ughh?!" whines Misa stomping her feet.She marches over to her coat and bag and aggressively puts them on. "Woah Misa where are you going?"
"To watch a movie" she smiles sickly as she paces to the door.
"Hold on!" says Matsuda grabbing his coat and following her,"let's make it a date".
