A fitting farewell

America and combined Allie forces have been ripped apart by their very beliefs. The belief that all those who are living are deserving of doing so in peace. A world where seeing fire and pain and death and misery had become the definition of this new era. The golden era. You'll soon pick up the story and what is was like when I was growing up as, what was called, a decedent of anarchy. A bastard child born into a world where I wouldn't get a fair chance at life. A world where I would have to fight to survive. This literally was survival of the fittest.

Peace Platoon war room 1. A strategically placed operations command centre, buried within enemy lines.

"Captain Chris Wallis, sir!" My father said, bellowed from the top of his lungs when asked what his name was by the highest ranking soldier in the newly founded peace protection platoon of Western Europe.

"To protect! To serve! To maintain order!" The answer to the question - what is your purpose?

"The leaders of the new world and all it's inhabitants, sir!" Another answer to another question - who do you serve?

"The threat of total annihilation from the AAM!" The AAM - Allied Asian Movement

"Sir, permission to be dismissed?" As he said this with total confidence, he was given the look that everyone fears; the look that says 'how dare you ask such a question!'

"Settle down brigadier, let him be."

Now this was new. A female officer giving orders to a man. See, things have changed in the past twenty years. Ignoring the fact that Earth has faced two almost catastrophic attacks from the Allied Asian Movement; women were oppressed for several years by the AAM before combined efforts from rebel strong holds across the globe freed every single oppressed group. From those who belong to the LGBT community (even after a decade long war, that movement thrived) to minority religious groups and what was left of smaller countries in Africa and Southern America. These groups had only just begun making their imprint once again on the free worlds but misogyny, racism and homophobia become the norm in the military.

You would think that when faced with the possibility of western civilisation being wiped with the push of a button that we would come together as one body but humanity is good at defining logic as well as ignoring common sense.

"Thank you Ma'am." As my father walked out of that room, he knew, deep down, that it would be his last...

October 13th - 2035

This is where it got real for my small family. This is where the peace broke down after 10 years of it thriving in a world learning to heal itself and lick its wounds...

"Listen to me Carl, listen to me! I'm going to get you out of here, ok?"

I had never seen a soldier so calm and collected before, but then again, fathers are the reassuring ones. After everything that happened between mum and dad, the least he can do to make up for it is save me from a cargo ship taking on uncontrollable amounts of water.

"I want you to grab your things and run. Run as fast as you can and don't you dare stop for anybody!"

Things were getting serious. That calm and collected tone manifested into a violent and aggressive one. He used to always treat me with respect. Morality. Dignity. Even when everything were going south like Sherman, he kept his cool but I'd never seen this side of him before. This was his soldier side. This was his protective side. I always honoured him for being like that and to this day, the day where things end, I still do because that side of him was the reason that I, and many others, survived.

My father was a great guy. Period. Words cannot fully explain why and even if they could, it would still be inaccurate. In order to fully comprehend who that man was; The one who saved countless lives in return for his, I must take you back to when my mother, my father and I were living a peaceful life out in the furthest corner of the world...secluded and alone...
