She ran as fast as her feet could carry her, tears rolling down her ivory cheeks as her emerald eyes struggled to focus on where exactly she was. Sakura Haruno. That was her name. Sakura watched as everyone around her matured and grew stronger. As for her, Sakura seemed only to become so much weaker- especially in comparison to their achievements. After all her failed attempts, she'd had enough and decided to simply run away from everything. She'd only made it so far until her breath was short and she needed a rest, further proof of her fragility.
Truthfully, she was a flower- weak, frail, and only good for looking at but never anything more.
Whilst she sat and thought about her situation, a shadow loomed over her. Her heart skipped a beat as her head shot upwards, her eyes locking onto the slender yet muscular lad before her. His short obsidian hair matched his onyx eyes, his hunter green jumpsuit standing in such a sharp contrast that it was nearly comical. Rock Lee crouched, extending his bandaged hand to her trembling form.
"Where you going in such a rush?" Rock Lee asked, a tiny smile on his face but she could see the worry in his eyes.
"I need to get away from here," she answered briskly, not accepting his hand.
Sakura didn't make an attempt to stand, just sat there and panted.
"Why?"
"Because maybe I can change myself if I change my surroundings!"
There was a moment of silence between the two, only her wheezing and the sound of footsteps could be heard. Per usual, the adults ignored the children. Any children, actually... Why is that?!
Sakura had managed to ease her breathing, finally accepting Rock's still offered hand and getting to her feet. After she brushed off her knees and offered him a kind smile, he returned the grin before quickly wrapping one arm around her waist and using the other hand to cup her cheek as he pressed a kiss to her parted lips.
Pulling away, he rubbed circles into her cheek with his thumb and continued to give her the sweetest grin that she had ever seen.
"You don't need to change yourself... I love you for who you are," he told her, kissing her cheek.
"Lee-san," she blushed.
"It's the truth," he smiled and let go of her.
She pulled him to her and rested her cheek against his strong chest.
"Then don't let me go, Lee-san," she whispered.
Now it was his turn to blush, bright red at that.
He wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight with a huge grin on his flushed face.
"I won't," he promised.
And he never did.
