Howling Manor was rumoured to be haunted and it sure looked that way, old, abandoned and dark. The weather here was never sunny, always cloudy however; Howling Manor was the only place where fog covered the land hiding the secrets within. A competition of bravery between me and Kyle would take place here; see who can stay inside the longest.

The front door creaks open and the silhouette of a man could be seen at the end of the corridor, he turns and runs away. I find myself drawn to him; I call out and step in to follow after him. The door slams shut behind me and the sound of the lock clicking echoes throughout the room. I begin to bang on the door and scream out at Kyle to let me out when his voice comes from within the room. He is locked in too.

After calming myself down we begin to find a way out, Kyle is stiff and scared but he continued to keep himself from looking afraid. He looked constipated, I started laughing and he glared at me causing me to laugh harder. I try to find something to grab a hold of when a cold but strong hand comes out in front of me to help me keep my balance. I start to calm down when I hear Kyle tell me to hurry up from ahead. I froze. Whose hand was I holding? I quickly let go and run towards Kyle screaming in fright. I run right into him causing us both to fall to the ground.

I stand up quickly looking back the way I came trying to find the person who belonged to the hand I had just been holding. I hear a whimpering sound come from behind me and see an unconscious Kyle being dragged into a room. I run after him but the door was locked, I use my weight to open it and found myself flying into an empty cleaner’s closet. I slowly walked back when I bump into something cold and hard behind me, the cold hands I had once been holding found their way to my shoulders. I let out a scream and ran for it. I didn’t know where I was going, but I wasn’t staying, that’s for sure.

I soon found myself locked inside a basement, and it was pitch black. I started to walk along the wall trying to feel for a light switch when I tripped over something big. I quickly scurried away from the mysterious item. I slowly stood using the wall for balance when I felt a switch beneath my hand; I flicked the switch and the room was bright with light for a second before it blew. I was once again trapped in darkness. I searched along the floor for anything to rid me of the suffocating darkness.

I soon had a candle lit and begun to search for the mysterious item that I had tripped over, I found an empty coffin. It had dark, dry blood stains inside and out. I had to find a way to get out of here. What kind of person lives here? I thought as I stepped back and found myself hitting something cold once again, the candle slipped out of my hand as I trembled in fear leaving me enclosed in darkness once again. The man moved away from me however, suddenly the room became lighter as the candle was once lit again. His pace was slow and eerie as he was walking towards me, even though he was carrying the candle; his face was still hidden by shadows.

I continued to walk backwards away from him until my back bumped into the wall and all the horror movies I have watched flash through my mind. No one ever got out of these situations alive, was that going to happen to me.  He was soon standing so close that I could smell his cool minty breath. I turned my head away from him and he pulled it back towards him.

He leaned in closer and whispered in my ear; “Behave” his voice was deep and sinister.

I wasn’t going to let him make me into some frightened three year old girl after having a nightmare. I kicked him hard and started to bolt for the door when a hand jerked my leg pulling me back, causing me to hit the floor hard. He picked me up with one arm and started to take me over to the coffin. Was he going to lock me in there? I screamed “Stop, Please don’t”. He sat me back down onto the floor; I was trembling so hard that I knew I wouldn’t be able to do anything. He grabbed my chin pulling it up causing me to look up at him. I gasped. It couldn’t be him, could it?
