Chapter 1- Scared

Some people find it funny how some people have horrible life's but still be afraid of death, falling or hurting themselves. Sometimes when that person is a little girl or boy there afraid of the monster under their bed or their afraid of the dark.
Well I wasn't afraid of anything when I was little. Of course I Was afraid of something, I mean who wasn't? But I wasn't raised with a family, I was raised in an orphanage. It wasn't a spectacular life but it was good enough.

I grew up there with my little brother Tommy.
I helped him with the little things that a child should have.
I helped when I had 7,8,9... Up to 14 years old.

But then they kicked us out.
I'm not sure why or if it was even legal they said pack your bags so I packed both of me and Toms bags and also got my hopes up that we were finally being adopted.

All they did was put us out side and shut the door, locking it behind them.

I banged on the door again and again but they didn't even hear it.

What was fourteen year old going to do on the streets with an 6 year old?

I remembered the bag of dollars pennies that I had been saving up over the years when I learnt about money and how to save it.
I reached into my boot and pulled it out it out.
Six year old Tommy starts to follow me when I start walking.
I don't bother going to any other houses their probably all druggies and kidnapping people.

I go into the little petrol station and go to the guy at the counter.

"Hew can I help you?" He asks sweetly. He looks to be in about his late thirties or forties around that age.
"how much is that bootle of water please?" I ask.
"That would be 1.55$ please." I reach into my small bag and pull out two, one coin 1 dollars.
I go to the socks and fabric area and pull out two big woolly socks that would hopefully keep us warm.
I see a blanket draped over the chair and it doesn't seem to have a price tag.
"Umm, how much is that blanket?" I ask.
"Oh that's not for sale." He says but gives it to me any way.
"a girl like you shouldn't be out here by herself."
"I'm not alone." I say and turn around.
"Tommy?" I say because he's disappeared.
"You have to t-twy and find mee!" I hear his little cute voice say.
"Why!" I shout back.
"B-becoase I say so!" He shouts back.
So I start to go around the shop making a lot of noise with my feet as if I was a monster, not caring what the guy thought.
"When I catch that little Tommy I'm going to gobble him up." I say to him but speak as if I was speaking to myself.

I hear a giggle from behind the counter.
I go over there.
"Do you mind if I just look for him behind hear?" I ask and he just moves out the way and nods.

I don't see any Tommy but I see a big basket with a lid.
"I'm going to get you!" I shout at him.
Then I hear another giggle from the basket.
I quickly take the lid of and pull him out by under his shoulders.

"Gotcha!" I say and he starts to giggle and squirm under my grip.

"Can I go and get some sweets?" He asks.
"Okay but it has to be under one dollar."
"Yay!" He says than runs off to the sweet area.
"Thank you." I say to the guy "for letting me behind the counter."

"It's no problem." He replied.
"Do you know any motels or a house I could stay in?" I ask.

"Do you not have one?" He asks in surprise.
It was already dark outside and I still haven't found a place to sleep.

"Well me and my brother got kicked out of the orphanage today and I needed to get some stuff." I say quite sadly.

"Well you can stay at my house, I have a fifteen year old boy and a seven year old daughter with the love of my life..."
He suggests with o nice smile.

"You could be a serial killer, or a kidnaper or a rap-" o say but quickly stop myself, I don't think Tommy's prepared or old enough to know this stuff.
"You know what I mean."

"C'mon, I promise I won't hurt you." He says than puts his hands up in a innocent manner.

"Fine, just I'm going to be careful." I say and go to the sweet area.
I look at Tommy and he has at least 7 bags of sweets in the floor and it looks like he's deciding.

"Which one should I get?" He asks me and I just smile.
There small and about 50 cents each.

"We'll get them all!" I say and he smiles that cute smile.

"Yay!" He says and I pick up all of them.

I pay the guy, he declined but I insisted.

He puts us in his car and I look at him a lot like I'm waiting for him to do anything.

But he didn't.
