Em's POV

Life with Rick is what you would call the American Dream. Rick is a lawyer, and I am an editor for the New York Times. We met while he was defending a client that worked alongside me, AKA my boss! After a series of lunch dates that later turned into dinner dates, and eventually weekend getaways to exotic locations. Rick had decided, and bluntly stated that, "I was just the type of woman he wanted to marry." Exactly one year later from the time we started dating, and on top of the Empire State Building he proposed. Of course I was flattered! We were great together! Who wouldn't say "yes" to the great Rick Winters.

As time went on we were married, and we couldn't have (from the outside looking in), a more compatible relationship. We were great together! I researched all his clients and all their history, and he would put the pieces together and solve the case. I guess you could say we were the perfect team. However, we didn't have what you would call passion. We had passion for our work but not so much for each other. Life was a comfortable routine, and when we did talk, it was always about work. Don't get me wrong there was passion in the beginning, but life gets busy and people develop new interests, and it would seem we had grown apart.

Then there's my best friend Stacey. My lifeline in life! We have been friends for as long as I can remember. We are opposites in almost every way. She is the outgoing type with a little spunk whom everyone loves. Me, I take the safe, and predictable course in life. I do not take risks! This is why we have always been good for each other. While assisting me in stepping outside of my box, I help her to see things as they are. I am the realist, and she is the optimist.

When it comes to beauty, Stacey isn't plain by any means! Her long blonde hair, blue eyes, pale skin tone, and slim and tall physique catches every guy's possesive eye. Even some women . I used to be jealous of this, but now I see beauty in my more subtle and natural features. Stacey believes makeup enhances beauty, but I believe less is better. I can't stand the feeling of gunk on my face. Give me a bottle of mascara, some chap stick, and I will feel complete. Stacey takes the time to curl, and style her hair on a daily basis. I prefer a bun or pony tail. Hair in my face drives me crazy!

Stacey is married to Rick's best friend, Brad. Brad, and Stacey are so much alike. They are both wild and crazy! You could say there is never a dole moment with them. Brad, is a pro series football player, and Stacey is a bar tender, but not just any bartender. She is the best! She gets along with everyone, and everyone loves her.

I quickly rise from my yoga stance filled with gratitude for the life I have, and transfer myself to the shower. The cool water feels amazing! As I walk out of the shower I cover my body with my white robe, and walk over to the mirror that is located in between two separate sinks. It's the simple things in life that seem to matter most. We each have our own sink, and our own toilet. This is one of those things that I had to have. The only thing we do share is the shower, which honestly never happens since we have different schedules.

Staring at myself in the mirror I wouldn't consider myself plain, but I do disguise myself in a professional manner. Quickly pulling my long brown hair into a bun, and after applying some mascara to make my green eyes stand out I feel complete. Sauntering over to my closet and dressing into a beige suit I start to hear my phone ring. Racing over to my nightstand I pick it up. I can feel my lips lift up in a smile as I read Stacey's name on my mobile. Accepting the call, I place it to my ear. "Hey, Stace, whats up?"

"Hey girl! So I have a proposition for you!"

Stacie's ideas are always pretty crazy. "I'm listening!"

"Ok, so before you freak out you need to listen to everything I have to say."

Oh no! What is up her sleeve? "Ok, you have my word."
