In the Circus, you can have fun! In the Circus, you can play! In the Circus, you can have fun! Just stay with us for one more day!
The big bright tent stood in the middle of the field attracting bodies of people to come see the show! Mummy was excited I didn't understand why I didn't like the Circus and Mummy knows. She leads me by the hand drawing me closer, we passed underneath the arch, as we had to be seated before the show begins. But we couldn't seat together, it was forbidden you see. Mummy and the others sat opposite the railings, she even waved at me. My face moved to her response, to put the biggest smile on you see, even though I was truly terrified, I had to impress Mummy. She moved her gaze away from me. There was movement at the center it was all anybody could see. The wild things being sorted, the props being lifted and the acts being all but happy. But Mummy was more exhilarated, even more than when she was with me. She liked the Circus better but the Circus liked me. The flower painted person holding up a present, a smile that hid the eyes, an exact copy of mine. I looked at Mummy, frantic of what to do, but she was too busy, busy to move.I stared back at the flower painted person, what might they do, I took to long to answer, what I could lose. Still brightly smiling, they pushed it onto me and made their way back down, back down to flee. So the chants died down, the lights were dimmed, the huge flap pulled round, it was about to start.
The show never came, it was all a trap. Outburst came around the room, one by one, no one could hear the calling of one. Shutting my eyes, my body started to shake, that air around me it was getting very faint. And when I woke up to, everyone had gone, my mommy had abandoned me and that was all wrong. The centre of the tent I sat, recalling flying memories, thinking all the way back to that. Mummy loved the Circus, Mummy loved me but the Circus didn't like just anyone because the only one who got a present was me.
