~Prologue~
"Niall! Some bitch is here with a little kid!" my father yelled up the stairs. I sighed and climbed to my feet, ditching the comic book I was reading. "So much for deadpool." I left my room, closing the door quietly behind me. I trotted down the stairs, only to trip over my own two feet and land near the front door, flat on my face. "Nice going." I heard a female voice laugh, along with a small child's laughter. I slowly lifted my head up to be met with familiar hazel eyes. "Morgan!" I shouted in surprise, jumping to my feet. I pulled her into a tight hug as her laughter died down. "Who's this?" I asked, waving to the little boy. "This is Patrick. I came to talk to you. About him." she whispered. "Baby, go play in the backyard for a minute. Mummy needs to talk to her friend." Morgan told him as he ran off. "Mummy?" I asked, tilting my head to the side and scrunching up my nose. "Do you remember when your dad...I paid him to..." she started awkwardly. "Yeah... I remember..." I said, hesitantly. "Well...you have a son." she said, giving me a small smile. I gasped. "I..I...have a...I'm a father?" I finally stuttered out. She nodded slowly, grabbing my hands in her own. I felt myself smile and the tears build up in my eyes. "How...how old is he?" I asked, a single tear rolling down my face. "He's three, about to turn four on August 10th." she smiled, hugging me. "Niall, I've been doing some research...on my family...and I found something out..that I know is going to affect him and his life." she said, frowning. "W-what is it? What's wrong with him?!" I asked frantically. "Niall, I'm your..I'm your half sister." she blurted out. "WHAT?! What's going to happen to him?!" I asked, tears streaming down my face. "There's nothing really wrong with his appearance...but he's going to have a terrible learning disability." she cried, face turning red. "But...but...we can take care of him. We can-we can get him the education he deserves." I stumbled on my words, head feeling dizzy. "No, we can't." she said. "What-what do you...?" she gave me a sympathetic smile before speaking. "You're only 18. You're starting school in 3 days. You're an emo freak show. And you know you're not cut out to be a father." she said sternly. I felt my lip tremble as I became very dizzy. "Patrick! Come on dear, we're leaving!" I could faintly hear Morgan yell. "Mor-Morgan!" I cried through the pain. "Goodbye, Niall." she said softly before leaving and taking my son with me. I thought of one thing before the darkness overtook me, and my world came crashing down.
I'm a father.
