She stood perched on her toes, leaning over the balcony rail. She loved the way the sun lined the hills as it set. She would never tell anyone, but she would miss Elimerea (El-ee-mar-ee-a) immensely. She was the Captain of the Guard (the King deemed her worthy after countless of deadly tasks and she beat all of her MALE competitors) and the King of Elimerea was sending her and hundreds of her best men to find and destroy the Lucarnos, fiery possessed creatures that had been a threat to his Kingdom. The tasked seemed to be a suicide mission; too much a 16 year old girl.
Her name was Luella Bordelon (Loo-el-a Bor-dee-lon) and she was from Courasen(Core-a-son). When she was six her family was brutally murdered one by one. Luella saved her life by becoming a slave . However a slave boy who was tree or four years older trained her to kill the man who owned them, Argus Macedoe (Mak-a-do). However at age twelve, when she viciously murdered Argus, her trainer had disappeared and was rumored to be dead. She fled to Elimerea for a better life only to be held captive by the King until she became Captain. No matter how hard Luella tried though she couldn't forget the first twelve years of her life. She had scars down her back and on her thigh she bore a gash that read the word "traitor."
Luella promised to never 'betray' anyone again and was determined to go on the deadly mission. Even if she wouldn't return. The wind wipped her short auburn hair back in forth. Was she ready to die? No. But she was ready to fight for her country. Suddenly the captain heard the faintest footsteps behind her. She quickly slipped in stealth mode, ready to kill. She had been taught to not trust anyone. And she didn't. Except him.
"Are you really going to leave?" Prince Westley Maurouard (Mar-o-ard) asked standing beside her.
She slowly turned to him, taking in his emotions. His emerald green eyes glistened with worry and his short black hair and defined cheekbones plastered even more sorrow to his appearance. Westley had been her one and only friend since she arrived. They spent a lot of time together. However his father, the King, didn't approve. Luella barely whispered, "I have too." Her accent (French like accent) dripped with fear.
"No you don't Loo," Westley pleaded staring at her. Those emerald eyes piercing into her soul.
"Westley, you do not understand." Luella let a heavy sigh leave her pale lips before turning back to the rolling hills beyond. "This is my chance to..." She had never told him about her past. Not all of it at least. Westley began to open his mouth as the clock tower rang soundly. "It is time for me to depart." She quickly looked him the eyes before exiting the balcony and walking out of the gate to greet her men.
As she hopped atop her horse she looked towards the balcony. The prince still stood there watching as she left. Her and her army. Probably never to return.
