Assemble a portable First Aid kit with emergency supplies for you and your pet(s)
Take a Red Cross pet first aid course or purchase pet first aid guide books
Plan to take your pet(s) with you during an evacuation
Most Red Cross shelters can't accept pets because of health and saftey concerns
Know which boarding facilities, animal shelters or vets you can care for your animals in an emergency
Make sure that your pet's vaccinations are updated and that all collars contain securely fastened, updated IDs(many pet shelters require evidence of current vaccinations to reduce spread of disease.)
Consider having your pet 'microchipped' by your local vet(s)
