It's eerily quite now. While I stare at the screen for another call from him, Ben stares at me scared to talk again. But the damage has been done. I thought I could lean on Ben no matter how crazy things seemed to be, but he hurt me.
"Lilly." He whispers.
I ignore.
"Lilly, I am sorry. Please Lilly, I am so sorry." He begs. He sounds so sincere that for a moment it seems as if he is apologizing for something else.
"Ben." I sigh looking at him.
"I want to believe you, Lilly. But-but how can I?"
I shake my head and stare at the screen. I know I should have reached Pitent cemetery by now, should have been saving Delcan. But secretly, the same doubt that Ben harbors is in my mind.
What if really Delcan didn't call?
What if I was just imagining stuff?
What if-
Ding!
A new message icon pops up.
Both Ben and I hover over the mobile. Seconds tick by but I am scared to open it. Is it from Delcan?
Finally Ben taps the screen and the message opens.
Lil did u gt my cal?? Pl cm quick. im barly holding. smeone is chsing me. please come quick.
