Prologue
Jade’s P.O.V
Adam and I were outside in a field playing with Max. The clouds above us were dark, it was probably about to rain but we didn’t care. We were running around chasing each other. Then all of a sudden dark figures came out of the trees in swarms.
“Get Max out of here. I will hold them off.” Adam said to me as I grabbed Max. I ran toward our house, leaving him behind. I knew it was a mistake and I should’ve stayed but I couldn’t put Max through the things we have been through. We have faced many things together and I know the toll is great on all of us. Max can’t and won’t be put through the things we went through. I forbid it and everyone respects that. I finally made it to our house and left Max with my parent’s and ran back to Adam. When I got there I was too late. The darkness had already entered his body. Now nothing could get through to him not me, his family, or even Max. It entered his body and changed his soul forever.

I woke up with Adam hovering above me shaking me trying to wake me. He was so close and so real I was glad to feel his presence around me again. That dream felt so real. I wake up crying sometimes because of my nightmares. I hate my dreams I have never had a dream to where I’m having fun and relaxing all I have is nightmares and it sucks. I think all of this killing is taking a toll on my soul.
“Mommy are you okay.” my son Max asked as he crawled onto our bed. He has always been able to tell what I’m feeling even if he is ten states away. He always know so I have no choice but to tell the truth about my feelings because he can call me out on it.
“Yeah I’m fine.” I said looking at him in the eye and hoping he will hush and not say anything about it.
“Why are you lying to me you know I don’t like that Momma what’s wrong?” Seriously child why can’t you just keep your mouth shut. I love you but dang.
“It’s nothing.” I said as looked at him hoping that he would catch the look in my eyes and he did but he shot a look back that said we’ll talk about it later. I just agree but we won’t. Then he jumped down and went to play. Now I have to face Adam. I was determined to shield Max about what has happened.
“So do you want to tell me what you was dreaming about or are you not going to tell me?” Adam asked pulling me out of my thoughts.
“Just another one of my oh so many wonderful nightmares about you.” I said looking at him in the eyes. Uncertainty passed through them and he tried to hide it but couldn’t. “Look you don’t have to worry about it they’re just dreams.”
“Do you want to tell me what happened in the dream?” he asked hoping I would tell him.
“We were playing with Max then Darkness came out of the woods in swarms and you told me to take Max and go. I ran with Max got here and dropped him off and ran back. It was too late and the Darkness already got you. There was nothing I could do.” I said watching his face pale. “Babe it’s not going to happen. It’s just a dream.” I said as he moved to where he was sitting up on the bed.
“How do you know though? Dreams can sometimes come true.” he said as he looked at me. “I don’t want to leave you and Max. I can’t y’all are my family. I won’t lose y’all.”
“I said it won’t happen now please just drop it.” I said looking at starting to get angry that he is making this into something that is so big. It’s just a dream. Apparently he got the look on my face. “I have to get ready for school.” I said as I got up and got in the shower.
Adam’s P.O.V
As soon as Jade hopped in the shower I went downstairs to the kitchen to be greeted by her parent, Aaron and Katie, I swear they don’t like me. Probably because I got their only daughter pregnant while she was still in school but it’s not like she still isn’t she’s going back and they still hate me. How can they hate me I gave them a beautiful grandson. If it wasn’t for them then I would have her at OUR house not THEIR house. I start cooking breakfast for them all because if I don’t her parents will try and you will be sick for then next week. They are horrible cooks. Now I understand why she wants to eat out when her parents cook. I bet dogs won’t even eat it. I started cooking bacon when Max comes and runs around the corner and wraps himself around my legs.
“What’s wrong little man?” I asked him as he was trying to hide behind my legs.
“Nothing just that I was being chased by Mommy so now I’m hiding.” he looked up at me as I laughed.
“Mommy is in the shower.” I said and I couldn’t keep amusement from my voice.
“She’s so mean making her voice sound closer than it really was.” He said as he walked towards Katie and hopped in her lap.
“Hey Max.” she said as she tickled his stomach.
As soon as I finished cooking breakfast Jade came in the kitchen. She hugged her dad and kissed his cheek. Yes, she is a daddy’s girl. Then she did the same to her mom. She looks so much like her mother with her blonde hair, tan skin, emerald green eyes; she is 5’7 so I’m like a giant to her. She is truly beautiful no matter how many scars she gains. SHE! IS! MINE! I fixed her a plate and made her sit in my lap. Yes I’m possessive and very protective over what’s mine.
“Hey will you drop me off at school?” she asks as she finishes eating and takes her plate to the sink and looks at me. I nod my head and she goes and gets her backpack as I go and start the car. I got Max strapped in and she got to the car and we went to her school which took us ten minutes to get there. We were greeted by her friends.
“Hey Jade,” Mike said with a smile on his face then he looked at me and his smile disappeared, “Adam.” he said with disgust. I was about to punch him when his eyes went back to Jade but I decided to make him mad so I grabbed and pulled her to me. He was not happy at all, but he wasn’t going to start a fight so he walked away as I had a smirk on my face, a smirk of dominance.
“Men what is wrong with all of you. Oh I’m better than you or mines bigger than yours.” Jade muttered under her breath.
“Hey we like dominance.” I said as I wrapped my arms around her possessively.
“Shut up.” she said as she leaned back against my chest.
“Oh Max!” Karmin said as she picked him up. “You’ve gotten bigger.”
“He’s going to be like his daddy.” my brother, Gabriel, said to us.
“Maybe, maybe not he is kind of looking like his mother and plus he has that serious face like his mother.” Raven said looking at him. “You just want him to be like your brother because if he is he can be like you too.” she said and rolled her eyes. “Men.”
“Hey don’t judge us.” all the guys said.
“I have already judged you.” Kaitlin said as she looked at all the guys. Her eyes landing on me in desire. She is the nymphomaniac of the group and yes she wants me. Hey I like being wanted but not by her and plus I have my girl. God teachers are walking by watch them say something about PDA. Man I am 21 years old I HATE people telling me what to do.
“No PDA Jade. Adam I know you don’t go to this school anymore but I still expect you to follow school rules. Oh is that your child?” she asks and I nod as Max hides his face in Karmin’s shoulder. “Oh he is so shy.” the teacher’s coo. “Even though I don’t approve of having a kid so young I have to admit that it has put some responsibility in you and I’m impressed that you took it.” the teachers said as the bell rang. I don’t care what the teachers say about PDA I’m going to kiss her goodbye. I turned her around and kissed her and the teacher made us stop. I let go with a smile on my face.
“If I get detention because of you and your dominance I’m going to make you sleep on the couch.” she said as she kissed and hugged me and Max goodbye. “I’ll see you later.” she said as she handed him to me.
