Just as they had entered the room, the masked lady appeared, grabbing hold of both Deemo and the girl. It seems like she doesn't want them to leave. "Its ok masked lady... I made a promise with this girl." The masked lady had a young figure, all in white and wearing a mask. As Deemo and the girl proceeded to the piano, he played a few notes again, and gradually, more sky blue platforms materialise. "Come along now little girl, its time to go home now."
The girl followed Deemo without a word. As they stepped on each platform it emitted a light, electric blue glow.
"Deemo... Are you not coming with me?" Said the girl with tears rising in her eyes.
"I'm sorry.. I cannot come with you."
"But Deemo I refuse to leave without you!" She cried.
"This is my world and its not right for a young girl to grow up in a place like this..." He said as he lifted the girl onto the last platform. He played one last song, that was full of melancholy, but was full of joy too in a way. As he hit the last notes, he went up to the girl and put his cold, slim hand on her face, with tears in his eyes.
"Goodbye, my dear sister Alice..." Deemo's body started to dematerialize, and was replaced with the body of a young boy, crying and smiling at Alice. Hans. The masked lady, waiting at the bottom of the stairs then removed her pearly white mask, and she was the part of Alice that wanted to stay with Deemo.... Then suddenly, the look of knowing spread across Alice's face. It was all coming back to her.
Hans.
The Car.
Blazing headlights.
It was all coming back, and the world of Deemo was vanishing before her eyes. This was a dream. Alice remembered the day... The day when her and her brother Hans were walking home from school... And then the car. Alice ran in front of the car, not realizing. Hans... Her own brother.... Had died saving her.... She remembered the ambulance... Hans's face..."Goodbye... Alice..." The words echoed in her head.. Over and over. Before she went into the coma...
She awoke in a hospital bed.
As Alice slowly opened her eyes, she could see all the medical equipment around her... All the IV lines and she was on oxygen. The anxious nurses were scurrying around the room. She slowly got out of bed, a nurse assisting her, and stood up to look out of the hospital window... It was time to face reality. Hans was dead. She instantly sank to the floor, as if she couldn't hold her weight anymore.... And cried crystal blue tears... As blue as the platforms in Deemo's world. Finding her voice again, Alice said sobbing"He never left without saying goodbye..."
