Another day and the drought continues on. My child is sick. My wife has already passed away. I fear I'll be left alone soon. I own a farm but since my wife passed away and my son is sick I'm the only one who can continue the farm. It's hard work handling a farm all on your own. We usually work until our hands and feet are filthy. Then my son, Michael would say something like, "I hope beautiful flowers will bloom soon". Unfortunately that can't happen anymore. I decided to check on him. I walk into his room. His door looked like a castle door, which is quite unusual. My wife and I made it together before... so any way, we just painted wood tiles and glued them up on his door. During this time Michael was obsessed with castles. He'd say things similar to it would be so cool if we live in a castle. Unfortunately those time are over. I hesitate for a moment but finally I go inside only to find a pale, limp body. Michael sees me and replied weakly "good so I won't die alone".
"Yes but I'll be alone. Without you or your mom I'm all alone." Tears start to weld up in my eyes.
"Is that why you stayed in Oklahoma, for mom."
"Yes your mom promised me to stay in Oklahoma so we can live a happier life before she left me and now you're leaving me now i'll be all alone." The tears came pouring down.
"No you won't I'll always be here and so will mom I'll never really leave you d-dad.'
so i told my son who no longer existed die stupid kid i cried even more because for a second i saw two fingers standing near me who smiled understanding what i really meant by those words that made me smile as tears still came down my heart still hurt but i still felt like smiling because i know there always here with me.
