Five minutes. Just five minutes and then he would be out in front of thousands of people who came there to support his team. He could hear them cheering all the way to the locker room where he sat with his head in his hands. The journey from being a regular kid to becoming a part of the National Cricket team had definitely been a ride on the roller coaster. Unexpected twists and turns and it all left him feeling the pure rush of adrenaline and he knew it was worth it. Every stare, every snickering bully had been worth it.
Coach Rajesh walked in and gave the team a pep talk and ended with the infamous enthusiastic "Go Team India!"
The team lined up and walked out to the field. The crowd cheered as loud as thunderclouds. The excitement was in the air and clearly the final match of the T20 series would be the most memorable one that Mayur Harijan, a young boy of twenty-two, would ever play.
