I know what I’m about to do is wrong, but I have her phone and I just want to know a few things. I went onto her Facebook and scrolled through her timeline. After a few minutes of scrolling a new status popped up. I read it.

‘Finding out the truth, in a dream… is horror’

I thought about the things she’s said today, about her remembering what I was to her. Has she finally figured it out? I decided to comment on it.

‘The truth hurts’

And that’s true, sometimes you might not want to know the truth and it just stabs you in the back, but it’s the truth and you have to live with it. No matter how painful it really is…

Charlotte

Finding out the truth does hurt, Nolan was my ‘best friend’ and I don’t even know why he left. Well, I want some answers and today is the day I’ll get them. I lay on my bed and listened to music, looking around my room. My desk was filled with images of Eva, Brittney and I laughing and having fun on sports day all dressed up.

I really miss those guys.

Maybe I can make a deal with mum, if I pass year 12 I can move back with my dad or even travel with my friends. I slowly got out of my bed, feeling the cold hit me. I shivered as I reached for my clothes. Getting dressed in a grey tank top and putting a black hoodie over. Wearing some black and white spotty leggings and then putting on my boots.

Once I finished I walked out to the kitchen and sat on the stool.

“Morning” My mum said as she boiled the kettle.

I smiled and said “Morning, mum can we talk?” I looked at my hands, there freezing. I made a note to take gloves today.

“Sure, what about?” she replied getting a coffee mug.

“Well, it’s about Nolan and I… do you know why he um left?” I asked her, she looked straight at me.

“It’s not my story to tell, but you too were really close… try and be friends with him ok. He’s a great guy”

I chuckled, “Um, I think he’s changed”

She shrugged her shoulders. “He’s still in there somewhere, ever thought he’s just putting on an act for everyone?”

“Either way, he’s just not the same…” The Nolan I know, was bubbly, and smiles all the time when were with each other. He loved to make jokes and he’d stick up for me. Then again, that was 7 years ago…

“Give him a chance, ok?”

I nodded “alright, I want to make an agreement, if I pass year 12… I want to move back with dad or travel with Eva and Brittney” I spat out, hoping she would agree.

“Alright, but your grades need to be a C or above! Any less and the deals off”

I smiled, “thank you!” I got up and went to the bathroom. Doing my hair and makeup. After that I grabbed the books I needed and walked to school. I really should get my license soon. Once I arrived I looked around for Nolan, I’ll discuss things with him later. Right now, I need to know where the Math class is.

I stepped on the rubbish lying on the ground, it made a crunching sound. The boy in front of me turned around. Just my luck, it was Nolan… Don’t make things awkward. I kept repeating in my head as I reached him.

“Hey” I said shyly, why? I don’t know.

He smiled and said “Hello”

“Where you heading?” I asked walking by his side.
