A/N: So this is a new story I have been working on. It's been on my mind for quite a while now and I finally had he time to get started on it. I hope to be able to constantly update this story. P.S. This story is taking place in the late 1920's and early 1930's. I learned about this in school and I love this time period. The Roaring Twenties: a time of prosperity, fortune, and good luck. Everyone in America had the opportunity to become someone and to actually do something. Well, almost everyone. Veronica Cardenas Trujillo is a Mexican immigrant who recently migrated to New York City. With no family or support in this new city, Veronica is forced to take two jobs: one as a "wage-slave" assembly line worker at a radio factory, another as a singer at an exclusive night club... In a time of conservative beliefs and suspicion against foreigners, anything can happen to a lone girl in a big city.
The 1920's also marked the beginning of the Prohibition Era, an effort for an improvement in a declining society. With the outlawing of alcohol, bootleggers began to rise. In New York City, one of the most notorious leaders of the underground business is Johnny Nelson. The Nelson empire was built from the first days that prohibition was put into effect. But with so much success, something was bound to go wrong...
