Ah crappy, crap, crap. I. am. D.E.A.D. "I-I'm so sorry Benjamin!" I said as I quickly stepped away. "I didn't mean to bump into you like that, I -" he cut me off by putting his hand on my shoulder. This had surprised me.
"Hey, hey look it's alright. There's nothing to be sorry about." Benjamin said, "besides I wanted to find you anyways."
He was seriously looking for me? Really, I mean what would he want to do with a nobody like me. I don't even have all that many friends. "Why, what is it?" I said still looking around for my painting a bit by glancing around him. Benjamin must have chuckled about me doing that because the next thing he said surprised me too.
"This is your painting right?" he asked showing me what he had hidden behind his back.
"Yeah, it's mine." I said. I had painted a beautiful sunset with a forest in the background. I had an cute couple holding hands next to a little brick house on a hill watching the sun set.
"Well, it's really good you know." Benjamin said turning it back to him, so he could look at it again. "I honestly think this may be one of the best paintings I've ever seen. The values are put in the right places along with the tints and shadings. And I love the way that the couple is sitting there holding hands and watching the sun set. It's absolutly beautiful." he said looking back up at me.
"You like it?" I asked disbelievingly and started to blush a red color.
"Of course I do!" he said, "I don't just like it either, I love it."
"So I take it you like working on art then?" I asked.
"Yeah, I can't paint as good as this though." Benjamin said guesturing to my painting. "I can draw really well, but painting can be hard for me." he said, running his free hand through his short brown hair.
I smiled, I didn't know that the popular guy at school would have a soft spot for art. "So why do you have my painting anyways?"
"I saw it in the hallway and picked it up. I didn't want for it to end up gettng ruined by pushy kids who don't care to watch where there going." I looked questionly up at him, as his hand was clentched into a tight fist. "Oh sorry just P.O.'d at some rude untrustworthy people right now."
"Oh, well you know what? This school needs bigger hallways," we both laughed. I ended up glancing at my watch, Yikes! I was about five minuets over the time I was subpost to be back by. "Um.. hey I kind of need to get back to class Benjamin."
" You can call me Ben you know. Oh and here is your painting" he said handing it over, kind of relutantly.
"Thanks for keeping it safe" I said as I started to awkwardly walk backwards away.
"I'll see you around!" Ben said as he turned around and started to walk away.
" Yeah..." I said quietly. "see you around." Then I quickly ran back to class, even though we're not subpost to be running in the halls. I stopped running then, two doors before the art class room to somewhat catch my breath. When I walked into the classroom, the students looked up at me and Mr. K came over to me as I sat down. By this point I had about 40 minuets left of class.
"Katie, did it ruined at all?" Mr.K asked me. I could have sworn that he was going to question me why it took so long first.
"No, it's perfectly fine. No changes to the last time I worked on it." I said. Please don't let him ask where it was, please, please don't! I silently pleaded with myself.
"Good." he said as he started walking away.
"Hey, uh, Mr.K I'm not sure what else to add to my painting. I think it might be done." What was I saying? I didn't evan think that I was done. Was this all just because I ran into Ben? I sure hope not.
"Yeah it looks good. Great job Katie, if you want to you can start on another canvas. Most students aren't close to being done yet." he said going back to his desk.
So then for the rest of the hour I sketched out what my next painting was going to be, a rainy landscape, in the background there was going to be a city. The middle ground had a bridge with a little river flowing through it, and in the foreground there was going to be an eldery couple walking with an umbrella, next to the river. When the bell rang for school to end, I met up with one of the few friends I have, my best friend Claire. She was very small or petite, average hight with curly short dirty blonde hair. "Hey" I said as we walked to my locker.
"Hi!" When we got to my locker and I started to put things away she asked, "So did anything exciteting happen today?"
My cheeks blushed a bright color of red agains't my fair skin. "Uh.. um.. nothing really." I told her when I shut my locker and swung my backpack over my shoulder.
"Oh.. come on you can tell me" Claire said bumping into my shoulder. She obviously noticed that I had blushed.
"Nothing really," I lied, mostly to try and convince myself of that. However that only made my cheeks turn a brighter red than they were already.
"Please, I promise I won't tell anyone." She started to give me the irresistible puppy face.
"Promise?" I asked, for example when I told her I had a slight crush on a cute nerd, she laughed her head off and said 'Really you like him? You could do soo much better than that!'.
"I promise" Claire said making a straight face and saluting me in a soulduer kind of way. "And I promise to not give you crap about it either" by this time we were walking out of school.
Sighing I finally gave in and told Claire "Umm... well it wasn't anything really. I just ran into Benjamin Luck wh-"
"Shut up! You ran Benjamin?" Claire stopped, grabbed my shoulders, and started to shake me like crazy.
"Could you please stop shaking me!" I said a bit dizzily. When the girl stopped I continued, "Yeah I accidently bumped into him when I was looking for my painting. I-"
"O.M.G. Just shut up now! You have no idea how much I would have wanted that to be me, just then." Claire wouldn't stop interupting me it seemed.
"Would you please stop inturrupting! "I exclaimed, I was getting rather annoyed I couldn't even finish two sentences without her inturruping. "How am I subpost to say anything when you keep on cutting into what I'm trying to tell you? Now do you want me to continue or shut up?
Claire frowned calming down, "I'm sorry, it's just that well..." she paused to think about what she was going to say next. "It's really exciting you ran into the school's hottest boy... I'm sorry you're probaly counting this as giving you crap."
"Yeah it does count as giving me crap." I smiled, I couldn't stay mad at my best friend for long. "So anyways I bumped into Benjamin because I wasn't really paying all too much attention when I was looking for my painting. I had dropped it in the hallway because of all the pushing and shoving. Benjamin had found my painting and was looking for me anyhow so.. yeah, he basically then gave me my painting back and Benjamin said it was one of the best paintings he had ever seen."
"You are so... lucky! And that he said your painting was really good, is really saying something beacause you are an amazing painter." Claire said "Oops looks like we're at my house now. I'll see you tomorrow then." she said turning to walk up her driveway.
"Hey just don't tell anyone about that alright?" I asked some what to basically remind Claire that she promised to not tell any one.
"Yeah, I'll remember!" the girl called over her shoulders, "And I won't I promised remember?" Claire smiled pausing when she opened up the door to her house.
"I do, and thanks! You're the greatest, Claire!" I shouted as I crossed to the other side of the street. I lived down a few houses yet. During the short walk yet to my house, I kept thinking about Benjamin; oops I mean Ben. Jeez I need to remember that! Sighing I took the key that hung around my neck along with my school I.D., and opened the door to my home. I had a bunch of homework to get done from math and language, and I wasn't going to waste my time doing nothing, by just laying around the house. So I went up staires to my room and sat at the desk that was in where one of my two closets would be. I sat down and started working on my homework.
