'Death—something that cannot be undone. Once you give life to a form, it is inevitable that it will die sooner or later. Like a blooming flower in spring, it will fade away when the season changes. Like a storm, it will end. And like the snow, it will disappear. This is reality.'

The words kept on replaying in Skyler's mind from somewhere and how she wished that she could remember who uttered them. She wanted to voice out how much she disagreed with the notion. The voice was such a blur. She wanted to pinpoint that if one was lucky, they can still have a chance to breathe for a second time and perhaps continue on with their life.

Yet, she can't.

Skyler can no longer return to the life she once had. No matter how much she reversed the hands of the clock, time continued moving forward. Every tick was torturous.

Her footsteps continued leaving chunky marks on the thick snow. She could only hear her footsteps in the dark forest. Even the trees covered with snow were unmoving. She wanted to go back to where it all started and where it all ended—home. Her mind was blank but it kept on dictating that she needed to go home.

But she was lost.

Not just physically but emotionally. Her soul, as she wants to call it, had been wandering off for a long time now. She was like a doll moving on its own. She lost her own puppeteer. But did she even had one?

Skyler drew her frozen fingers to her chestnut-colored hair as she approached a small cottage by the woods. White smoke was escaping from the chimney and a single shadow seemed to be dancing from the inside. She drew out her keys and opened the silver door. It's been a while since she returned to this place. And she could never grow tired of coming back despite not comprehending why.

Once inside, her nose was welcomed and tickled with the scent of burning applewood and amber. She removed her scarf and coat and laid them on the table although there was no need for her to use them in the first place. Her temperature had been lower than the icy winter."You've returned," a deep voice muttered from the living room.

She did not respond and went straight to the couch and watched as the flames in the fireplace danced and gave light to every corner of the room."You've been out for a while. Did you want anything to eat? Drink?" The man took steps on the creaking wooden floor towards her holding two mugs—a hot Earl Grey tea and a cup of frozen red liquid Skyler doesn't even want to name."Take it," he uttered.

Hesitatingly, she extended her arm to grab the mug as she was drawn to the smell. She did not mind giving him a look as he went to the opposite side of the couch. Skyler wanted to probe why he had a prepared drink but didn't feel like it. They were complete strangers.

Skyler slowly took a peek at the man. Stubs were growing on his jawline and his hair looks messier than the last time she saw him. His body shows strength yet his eyes were depicting softness.

It really has been a while.

But that didn't ruin his face. In fact, it did the opposite. He could be a model on fashion magazines and posters she sees in the land of the living. That is... if he polishes himself if he desires to be one. Although it does tick her off why a man such as himself prefers to be alone in the woods with her. She never asked him for a fact that it wasn't her business.
