Of everything Madeline Williams could be allergic to, she just had to be allergic to the ink used to make soulmate tattoos: the very things that every child dreamed about and everyone she knew already had, or would be getting soon. Soulmate tattoos came in all different sizes and ways. Some people had pictures that matched, or completed their soulmate's tattoo, while others had their soulmate's first word printed on their arm. Madeline had seen all types, and could only imagine what hers would be, or was supposed to be.
"Maddy! Me and Nat are heading out!" Her brother, Alfred, screamed from downstairs. Alfred had already met his soulmate, a Belarusian girl named Natalia whose brother happened to be Alfred's arch-nemesis in school. His tattoo was an image of a doll and snowflakes, which had been the center of confusion until he had met Natalia and noticed her tattoo: the word hero filled in with the American flag.
"It's Nat and I, idyjot*." An thick accent retorted, Natalia. Natalia always kept Alfred in check making sure he didn't start fights, or get in to much trouble.
"Ok, see you later bro." Madeline called back from her room. It wasn't too unusual for her to be left alone in the house, since Alfred was always out with friends and her parents worked long hours, sometimes not even coming home til midnight.
"Come back at a reasonable hour!"
"I will!" The sound of the door closing, and a car starting and driving away following shortly after.
~Yeah, I know that you wanna be Canadian please....~
'My phone! Who would even be calling me at this time?!?!' Madeline thought, fumbling for her phone.
"Hello?" Madeline asked, not even caring to check who was calling.
"Hallo, is this my awesome soulmate?!" A thick accented , most likely German, voice called from the phone.
"Soulmate.... I'm sorry I think you have the wrong number!" Madeline quickly responded ready to hang up the phone in a heartbeat, this person must be crazy. 'Soulmate? No this can't be I don't even have a soulmate, how would they even have my number!" Thoughts piling up in Madeline's head.
"I'm pretty sure the awesome me has the right number, as I have been staring at it almost all my whole awesome life! My names Gilbert, yours?" The German voice, Gilbert, said. 'Staring at my whole awesome life?!?!' Madeline's mind yelled, here was someone claiming he was her soulmate while she had been prepared to spend the rest of her life alone.

My first fanfiction and my head is already spinning with ideas! I don't know if I have to do introductions or something like that, but at the very least: I don't own Hetalia, only this version of the Soulmate AU. I hope you enjoy, and there aren't many grammar or spelling probelms in this first chapter. I plan for this fanfic to be composed of two, or three shots of certain pairings, but it may turn out to be only Prucan. I don't know just yet, but thank you for reading my first ever sort of fanfiction posted online!
