What's the point of being an adult if you can't really be one? I want to be free, geez Aubree thought. The countless swirls of thoughts are bugging her since last 20 minutes. She does not want to think but her mind is playing itself like a fine addicting record.
All she wanted was to sleep a little longer. 10 minutes? 15 maybe. But father won't have this foul behavior of sleeping till such improper hour. So she jumped out of her bed even before her father could finish calling her full name.
"Aubree, are you still in bed? How many times do you need to be told about the bad effects of sleeping la-"
"I'm brushing my teeth, dad! Not in bed" She replied hurriedly.
"Good. Come downstairs after you finish and have breakfast. You have to start studying." And then, he was gone.
Really, dad?! She thought to herself.
So that is what happened since her morning started. It's like every other day. Nothing changed. And that's the thing she craved. Change.
Where is my life? When am I gonna live it? She muttered.
Being controlled is not how she pictured her life when she was a kid. She thought life means a nice fairytale. Where everything was bursting into vivid colours and monsters were only killed by a prince; just like every single book said. Speaking of which, where is her prince?
Or maybe a normal guy.
She didn't know. But her sleepless wondering- night after night, never stopped. But one thing she understood very well since she was little; life was anything but lovely and harmless like those fairytales.
Breakfast went almost quietly. The only thing spoken to Aubree by her mother was "Eat slowly, Bree. You're no longer a baby. College means a lot, so, behave."
Yes, Aubree Scott is a college student and is staying with her parents. Which makes her feel embarrassed too. But she knew it just had to be this way.

Even though Aubree couldn't deny anything her parents told her or make decisions for herself, she did quite a good job at it outside her "home life". After breakfast, she left for the library to pick pick up some books for a Biology assignment. Or, that's what her parents thought. She had somewhere more important to be.
Once she put enough distance from her house, she took out her phone to call Rachel.
"hey Bree, are you there already? I'm so sorry, gimme 5 minutes and I'll be there in 10 minutes okay? I promise!"
"What did you just say?!"
"Yeah, I know I'm late and I'm sorry please don't be mad at me, I'll-"
"Rach, not that. Anyway, you should learn number sequence all over again. You need to know what comes after what. And no, I'm not there yet. But I'll be at the shop soon."
"Wait, what number seq-"
"See ya Rachel."
With that, she dismissed the call. Rachel is her best friend. Well, one of her best friends. When we think about one special devil twin of ourselves by "best friend"; Aubree has a full party.
