Emily looked into James' eyes. They were black and glassy. She stepped hastily over Mindy's body, making her way towards her fiancé.
"James, stop! What...what are you doing?" Emily cried, tugging on his arm.
James cast her away, avoiding her gaze.
"Don't do this Emily. Run home before you hurt your lovely self," he said.
"Snap out of it! James...please, look at me," she pleaded, returning to his side.
"Stupid vampire. Don't you know anything? James isn't here anymore."
Emily took a step back, accidentally tripping on Mindy's arm. She fell to the floor, her eyes staring into the back of the demon's head.
"What...what do you mean he's not here anymore!? What did you do to him!" Emily shouted.
"Oh don't worry your pretty little head over it. He's still in this body. I can hear him screaming. He's far too weak to try and take himself back now," the demon said casually.
Every time he spoke, his tone was relaxed, as though these kinds of events happened all the daily.
"Let him go," Emily demanded, struggling to get up from the ground.
"Er...I think I'll decide against that," the demon said as if he actually contemplated, which he obviously didn't.
He was starting to get on Emily's nerves.
"What," Emily said, lifting her hand from the floor to find it soaked in blood, "what did you do to this poor girl?"
The demon laughed, turning to face Emily.
"I got bored, okay? Give me a break. Once you've been to hell and back, you can tell me what you think of my actions."
Emily finally pushed herself up. She'd had enough of this dumb demon and his snarky comments.
"Who are you?" she asked impatiently.
"Who," he looked around the room as if she could be speaking to someone else, "Who am I?"
He chuckled, face breaking into a sarcastic smile.
"I'm Bael, commander of the sixty-six legions. To be honest, I was expecting a theology nerd like you to know that."
The fact that Bael knew information about her like this put her more on edge than the whole 'leader of the demon army' thing.
Jamie and Robert stood in horror and disbelief as Doctor Change tried to get them out of the room. The humans shouldn't have visited anyway.
"Why are you here?" Emily asked Bael.
"Because Hell was giving me a headache, okay? You try living with Satan for a century," he replied.
Emily pointed to the message written on the wall. Follow Satan.
Bael laughed.
"Lucifer makes us write it every time we manage to claw our way back to Earth."
"Lucifer?" Emily questioned. She knew nothing on this situation, and wasn't going to let the demon assume she knew what he meant.
"Satan. His real name is Lucifer. I know right, how lame," Bael said with an eye-roll.
Emily shook her head with frustration. She was getting distracted.
"Will you just let James go?!" she shouted.
"Eh, I don't know. I kinda like this body."
Emily grabbed Bael by the collar of his shirt, putting her vampire strength to good use.
"Let. Him. OUT!"
The demon struggled for a second before touching Emily lightly on the forehead. She collapsed as though she'd been knocked out.
Bael opened the door and shoved past Jamie, Robert and Doctor Change who were standing in the corridor. He strode out of the hospital, looking for the human which would entertain him next.
