The engine started and we began to make our way to Kings Cross Station, the sun beating down on the hood of our shiny car. Me and my sister, Petunia, had been forced into the stuffy back seat together, me engrossed in a book and Petunia staring out the window, both of us ignoring each other's existence.

Ever since I had gotten my Hogwarts letter three years ago, Petunia hadn't spoken to me unless it was a nasty insult. My parents had done everything they could, but apparently everything wasn't enough.

I, despite being in a car with my angry sister, was in an exceptionally good mood. I was on my way back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and I would get to see Severus, James, Sirius and Lupin again.

Beaming out at the sunny skyline of London, I started daydreaming about the feasts, the classes (my favorite being transfiguration) and the friends that I would soon be with.

"We'll be there in about five minutes." Dad said, checking his watch. "Lily, Petunia, get ready to get out."

I hurriedly closed Standard Book of Spells Grade 4, excitement coursing through my veins. I shoved my hand through my bright red hair, bouncing my knee.

"Stop that, will you?" Petunia asked, a look of disgust on her face. "It's bad enough you're actually excited to go back to that freak school."

I rolled my eyes, bouncing my knee more fervently.
"Petunia, what did we say?" Mom said, looking at her pointedly. "You're sister's about to leave, and you won't see her for a long time."

"Wow, what a disappointment." Said Petunia, sarcasm evident in her voice. "I'm really going to miss her."

Although I tried to pretend I wasn't effected by Petunia's words, but I was. They hurt. I was getting so tired of her hating me for something I had no choice over.

"Petunia!" Mom said, looking affronted. "Apologize right now. You are being horribly rude, and it's not okay."

"Sorry." Petunia said, a smirk playing on her lips. Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hogwarts I chanted to myself, trying to ignore her.

"We're here!" Dad said, pulling into a parking space outside Kings Cross. "We'll be meeting the Potters outside the platform, correct?"

"Yeah," I nodded, biting my lip and opening the car door. The sun gave of an illusion of warmth, but when I stepped outside the chilly fall air made me shiver.

Dad unloaded my stuff from the car while I ran to go get a trolley, and once all my stuff was loaded on, we walked into the station, making a beeline for Platforms 9 and 10.

There he was, leaning against the wall, his messy black hair sticking up at all possible angles and his glasses perched on his nose. James Potter was one of my best friends at Hogwarts, and I had had a small crush on him since the second year.

His family, the Potters, stood around him, their wizard robes looking as out of place and strange as always. I loved it. The Potters were a wizarding family, and they still weren't quite sure how to blend in with muggles.

"Oi, Lily!" James said, jogging towards me. When he reached me he pulled me into a bear hug. "You look great!" He said, stepping back from me, his brown eyes twinkling.

"Thanks." I said grinning up at him. "You're not so bad yourself."
He laughed and put his arm around my shoulder.

After greeting Lauren and Ben Potter, James's parents, I said my goodbyes to my family and James and I walked through the brick wall between platforms nine and ten together.

Platform nine and three quarters was bustling with wizarding families and their kids, and we had to weave their way through the crowd to find Sirius and Lupin.

"James! Lily!" We heard a voice yell in our direction. Turning, I saw Sirius and Lupin standing side by side. James and I walked over to them, smiling as James and Sirius embraced, and went over to hug Lupin.

Lupin smiled down at me, his kind eyes twinkling through a mop of dirty blonde hair.
"Had a good summer?" He asked, putting his hands in his pockets.

I shrugged. "It was fine. You?"
He shifted, suddenly looking uncomfortable. "Good." He forced a smile, but I decided not to push it.

All the sudden I was tackled by a large mass of black hair, and I found myself in a back-breaking hug. I laughed, looking down at Sirius, who had lifted my feet of the ground.

"Hey, Lil!" He said, setting me down and beaming down at me.
"Hi." I grinned as he ruffled my hair.
"How's that sister of yours? Petunia? Has she given you any more trouble?"

I rolled my eyes. "Only if you count shouting nasty insults at me. She still treats me like a spot of dirt on her shoe that she'd like to get rid of."

Sirius scowled. "She's just jealous Lil."
I nodded. "Yeah whatever. It's her problem not mine."

We were interrupted by James clapping his hand on Sirius's shoulder.
"We have," he glanced at his watch. "three minutes until the train leaves. D'you reckon we should go find a compartment?"

We murmured our agreement and stepped onto the train, James getting my trunk for me. We sat down in an empty compartment, Sirius and I on one side and James and Lupin on the other.

I noticed James was holding a rather large book, it looked old and worn and a sudden surge of curiosity came over me. "What's that?" I asked, motioning to the tome.

"What?" He glanced away from the quiet conversation he and Lupin had been having.
"The book." I said, staring at it.

"Oh this? Er..." He shifted in his seat, looking anywhere but me. "It's just a thing on jinxes I picked up at Flourish and Blots."

I raised an eyebrow. James was a horrible liar, at least when it came to me. He gave me a weak smile and ducked his head back toward Lupin.

Why wasn't he telling me what that book was? I shook my head and took out Standard Book of Spells Grade 4 again, deciding that he would tell me if it were important.

A/N: Okay guys, that was the first chapter :D I don't know if people will read this but if you do please let me know what you think! I have always wanted J.K. Rowling to write a Harry Potter prequel, but it doesn't look like she will so I decided to attempt it myself, not that I will be nearly as good as her.

This is just a little thing for fun, and I know I'm not the best writer but I enjoy it and I hope you might too :) I'll update every week or so.

Thanks for reading!
