Flowers are something special. They all have unique little traits that makes them beautiful. The only problem with being beautiful is that it makes people want to pick you to keep. But then, that flower will wither, and lose its beauty. All that just so someone could admire it's beauty at home, or show someone else. This is the story about how my best friend was picked because of her beauty, and then withered away. In all truth, what happened to her wasn't fair, and it was even more unfair that I didn't try to save her.

The prettiest flowers, in my opinion, don't have to have vibrant colors, but they do seem like they sparkle. Not as if the sun was reflecting off them just right, but they just have their own look that catches my eye.
Elizabeth, my best friend, happened to be both so beautiful, as if she was wearing the most vibrant of colors (she did not), and had that kind of sparkle that made her look special. The sparkle made her looks beyond perfect.
Once you get to know Lizzy, you can tell that she is the ideal human being and would probably win miss America just by giving a bubbly smile and saying hello. Maybe also her talk of all the charity she's done to make the other contestants hopeful, and she had done a lot of charity. Lizzy was probably the sweetest person you'd ever meet, always selfless, and her sense of humor could somehow adapt to every single person she meets.
To top it all off, she is good at nearly everything she does. If she honestly wanted to she could play every sport team, be in every club, still be number one in her class, with the hardest classes, and be captain for like everything. The only thing she can't do, is dance. Dancing is just something she is not very good at. She could waltz, probably because that has to do with being perfect, but modern dancing, she fails. The whip? Yeah she used the wrong foot and didn't move her arm right. The nay nay? She was completely tense and kept stepping on her self when she tried to move. It gets worse with the others.
Naturally when someone is practically perfect, like Lizzy is, all the other girls will become envious and try and be as far away from the practically perfect girl so they can't be compared to her. The boys, however, will all come running thinking that they might have a chance with my dear Lizzy. I was the only girl that didn't go running when they saw how unimaginably beautiful Lizzy was-inside and out- mainly because I don't care what other people think, and I happen to like Lizzy's one flaw, I find it adorable. I'm also just one notch behind Liz in almost everything, I'm number two in our class, and I could be on all the sports teams, all the clubs, have the hardest courses, but only be vice captain in all of that. The coolest thing for me about our friendship was that Lizzy couldn't dance and I could, and also Lizzy was very beautiful, and I was not very beautiful (comparing that is, on my own I'm just fine).
To compare us- see I don't mind it- I have very straight, thin, ordinary brown hair, cut right below the ears so that no on can tell how thin it is. I'm skinny enough that I look good in a bikini, and my cheekbones are high and present. I'm also very tall, second tallest girl in the senior class at Brownsmen High School. I have a light tan, but I'm really pale from staying inside so much. My style is pretty cool, Lizzy and I both go to goodwill to get things. To contradict me, Lizzy has "flaming locks of auburn hair, with ivory skin and eyes of emerald green" to quote on Dolly Parton who I think wrote Jolene about Lizzy instead. Because that would still be true. Lizzy happens to be the tallest girl in our senior class. Who would've guessed right? Her hair is in the middle of her back and has so much volume and lusciousness (thickness too) that it looks perfect any way she wears it. Lizzy is actually a bit plumper than me, but it makes her have curves, and still a flat stomach. Her cheekbones are also high, but much more present. Full lips and eyebrows that need no waxing.
Lizzy is the flower that catches your eye and makes you observe it, and I'm the one just behind it, also looking special, just not in the way they had hoped. Lizzy will be picked first, and I'll be second, but there is nothing I can do to save her.

My Flower Withered
