"Shana! Are you ready? You need to go to school!" I hear my mom calling from downstairs. I yawn and get out of bed. "Yeah yeah, I'm coming!" I call back. I quickly get dressed, brush my hair, and wash up in the bathroom. A few moments later, I sit at the kitchen table to have breakfast. As always, it's muesli with milk – easy and apparently healthy, according to my mom. After breakfast, I grab my jacket, shoes, and school bag. I say goodbye to my mom and head out, hopping on my bike to school. At school, the first bell rings as soon as I arrive. I rush to my locker to stow my jacket and then hurry to my first lesson, which happens to be English. Great, a long and boring day ahead. In the classroom, I find myself staring out the window, despite the lack of anything interesting to see. "Shana? Are you paying attention?" the teacher asks repeatedly, startling me each time. "Uh... yeah," I stammer, pretending to take notes while actually doodling in my notebook. Without my notice, the teacher approaches and confiscates my notebook. "So that's what you've been up to. You're not paying attention at all. Go to the principal's office and get a note!" He points towards the door.I swallow but quickly roll my eyes. "Fine, I was planning on leaving anyway." I gather my things and storm out of the classroom. I hate school, especially English, and that teacher is the worst. In the principal's office, a few other students sit quietly. A woman with glasses looks up from her desk. "Yes, what is it?" "I need to report," I shrug, as if it's the most normal thing in the world. "And why is that?" she asks. "I don't know. My teacher said to report here because I wasn't paying attention, but that's not true. He's just a terrible teacher!" I explain. The woman nods, typing something into her computer. "Alright then, that's clear. What class are you in and who's the teacher?" "H4C, and his name is Mr. Sweats," I reply. She nods again, tapping away at her keyboard before handing me a yellow slip of paper. "Take a seat and fill this out. You'll need to give it to your teacher after class." I sigh, take the paper, and find a seat in the back, feeling the stares of my classmates boring into me. Seriously? Can't they just mind their own business? I look at the paper and grab a pen from my pencil case. What a bunch of questions. I've already answered these to the woman. I fill in random answers to finish quickly, which isn't very smart because then I'll just get bored and start daydreaming. After class, I walk into Mr. Sweats' classroom. He doesn't look up from his grading. "What is it?" I roll my eyes and drop the paper on his desk. "Here." I turn to leave for my next class, but he stops me. "Wait." He looks me straight in the eyes. "Behave yourself next time, young lady." I nod. "Yeah yeah, sure." I turn and walk out, rolling my eyes again. I'll just keep being myself. He can deal with it.Finally, it's break time. I find a quiet staircase, sit down on a step, and eat my melon bread. Mmm, delicious. Suddenly, a boy approaches and sits next to me. "Hey." I roll my eyes irritably and stand up. "Shut up!" My day is already off to a terrible start, just like yesterday and the day before... I start walking through the school. Where else am I supposed to go? It's crowded everywhere with annoying kids who will never grow up. Eventually, I find myself in an empty hallway and sit on a bench. Finally, some peace and quiet. It's weird that it's so quiet here, but it's nice. After finishing my melon bread, a group of boys walks toward me and surrounds me. I roll my eyes again and stand up. "What do you want?" A boy steps forward, trying to put his arm around my neck, but I dodge just in time. "Shut up! What's wrong with you guys?" The boy looks at me indignantly and starts advancing threateningly. "Excuse me? Say that again and I'll get you!" He pushes me backward, and I stumble into a few other boys, who start pushing me back toward him. They keep pushing me back and forth like a toy. I hear them cheering and laughing the whole time. "Hey, stop!" I keep shouting, but they don't listen. Eventually, I start feeling really angry. I stand still in the middle of the circle with clenched fists. I squeeze my eyes shut and then open them, screaming at the ceiling:"STOP!!!"I feel a strange tingling sensation throughout my body, and soon I collapse to the ground, exhausted. As I lie there, I slowly close my eyes...
