Alar's Point View
That lady was really stupid. Oh well, at least I got to enjoy some time with my wingmate. Since we don't have any classes together until after lunch, we part ways. I really want her, but don't know if it's a good idea.
Slai's Point of View
My second class is much more boring. I miss Alar but something inside me says it's better to stay away. Walking to my third class, I'm suddenly shoved into a locker. An ugly hairy face stares at me. "Dyke! Thought you could cuddle with what is mine? Hands off! Also, she's straight not lesbian." He shouts. Then he proceeds to try and beat me up. Until Alar's friends show up.
"Hey Rick get your nasty hands off her!" Shouts the girl whose name I think was Klirn.
"Yeah! Wererabbits shouldn't pick fights with us birds! We eat you for breakfast." Yells the other person whose name I think was Zyn. He punches Rick in the face and sends him running.
"You alright?" Klirn asks me. I nod shakily. "Didn't realize there were so many shifters around."
"Yeah, those land animals really shouldn't pick a fight with us Avians though. By the way, are you Alar's wingmate? Says the boy Zyn hastily with arrogance. "Yes. I don't know if you have anything against being lesbian but already, I can barely hold back my birds." I say worriedly.
"It's not a problem since we are too." Says Klirn with a grin. "Well, I guess I should say gay since you're a boy." She looks at her brother. He nods, some kind of silent message passing between them."However Slai, if you hurt Alar in any way, we'll kill you. She's our Killer, and she's been though a lot. Alar got us more rights than we've ever had before. If Alar hadn't come along, we would have been long dead since nobody likes crows. We'd jump off cliffs and not fly up for her. If you hurt her you'll be sorry. We'd tell you more but we really don't trust you much right now." I nod again, trying to process this information. I would never hurt her but who knows when my past will come crashing back to me.
I go through third and fourth period in a daze and then it's time for lunch. Picking the farthest table in the corner, I sit and pick at my sandwhich.
"Mind if I join you?"Asks a familiar deep voice. I'm falling so hard though I probably shouldn't. I scoot over, letting her sit by me.
"Hey Alar, guess who we found!" Yell two happy voices.
"Your wingmates?" She responds still staring at me. I blush. It's too much for me to take. Gently, I press against her letting her soothing warmth relax me. She smiles for the first time. I'm overjoyed because when she smiles, she looks free of pain, of the weight she bares. It also makes her look younger.
"Alar look at her! Isn't my wingmate beautiful? Her name is Seren and she she's a crow like us!" Squeals a very happy Klirn.
"And look at MY wingmate! Isn't he sooo handsome? His name is Tir and he doesn't mind that we're crows! He's a pegasus." Swoons Zyn. The twins are clearly madly in love already with their wingmates. They also must really admire Alar for they working very hard to get her attention. Alas for them, she barely glances up and says"Didn't I tell you you'd find them today? If you don't mind, I'd like to spend time with Slai here alone, and I think you'd like to do the same with your wingmates."
The foursome leave leaving us alone again.
"Ummm... Do you want to come over to our roost today?" Alar asks nervously turning bright red.
"Sure. Umm... If you don't mind me asking, can I meet your birds there too?" I respond a little worried about what her response might be.
"Okay." We lapse into a comfortable silence and finish eating. When the bell rings we both go to orchestra. Surprisingly, she plays cello. I grab my viola and start warming up. The teacher is okay in comparison to the others. Once class is over, I hurry off to my next class. I'm going insane with need but I can't have her yet. What if she can't stand me because of my secrets?
