The Curves

As the car drove along the road, we sang to an old, creepy song that Moyrah, the backseat driver, had picked out. She created the entire playlist for our trip. None of us knew where we were going. We had just graduated high school, and just wanted to escape our small town for the summer. On adventures like this, we just pick a road, and take it wherever it may lead. The back road on which we currently drove was filled with cries of wildlife. All we heard was the birds' cries, and the wolves howl, as the black asphalt twisted and turned, taking us wherever it pleased. Soon the tune changed, a new haunting melody filling the car interior. As the song hit a high sharp, a deer was seen around a curve in the road.

The car swerved, narrowly missing the deer. Before the car could get back on track, we drove through the barrier, sliding around trees, and threw bushes and briars.

Finally, a few miles into the forests abyss, the old impala slid to a stop. Slowly, Terryn, Moyrah, and I slid out of the car and took a glance at our surroundings. The haunting melody continued to play threw the speakers within the car. I glanced to the sky, noticing the treetops grew in such a way, which prevented any light from passing through. It seemed as though the trees were determined that nobody should be able to find their way out of the woods. Using a light from the car, we glanced at the rest of the area in which we were trapped. The foliage covered the path in which the car had just passed through. We had no choice but to walk and hope for the best.
