As I was walking with Ren a boy ran by and knocked the hat that covered my ears off. I bent over quickly trying to grasp my cap before anyone could notice. As soon as I had a hold of it someone noticed.
"Woah, this newbie is a half-elf!" she yelled for everyone to hear.
Soon I had a large crowd around me pointing and laughing.
"Why you little-," Ren grumbled.
"Don't, Ren, you'll only get more attention drawn to us," I told him while holding him back.
I started walking to the building with Ren in tow but the crowd of people pushed us back into the circle.
"You aren't leaving yet halfie," one boy said.
"Yeah," said another.
They started to raise their fists, then a bright light flashed and a dark haired girl stood in front of me.
"Hey back off!" she yelled while bitch slapping some of them.
"Holy shit its her, run boys!" the crew leader yelled.
After a while the crowd dispersed and we walked towards the building. I slipped my cap back on while we were walking.
"Thanks for that," Ren told the strange girl.
"No problem," she replied, "I hate those racist bastards,"
"I believe introductions are in order," I told them, "My name's Hyn and this is Ren."
"I'm Bre," she replied.
Walking together we reached the entrance hall. A large line was formed for registration. We joined the line and the wait began.
