Chapter 1: Two Lives

It was two in the morning and I have an exam tomorrow morning. Why must the syndicate give me a mission when I have something important the next day. I better finish this mission quickly so that I could at least get a few hours of sleep.

The target tonight is a wealthy businessman that goes by the name of McKayne Tyler. Apparently this businessman had a breakdown of negotiation with the syndicate and now they want to get rid of him.

His mansion is somewhat heavily guarded with electrical fence and a few security personnel. I put on my mask that was given to me when I was younger by someone who I can't seem to particularly recall. However, I also had this feeling that this mask was very important and precious to me.

The first obstacle I have to go through is the electrical fences that are around two meters high. Climbing the fence is out of the question so I have to find another way in. I look around and to my surprise I found a sewer passage. I investigate the sewer passage and after analyzing where the end leads to, I found out that it leads straight to the mansion's courtyard.

The sewer smells awful but I had no other choice. After navigating myself through the sewer I finally found the manhole which would bring me to his courtyard.

Coming out of the manhole I find myself right in front of Mr. Tyler's balcony which would lead me straight into his bedroom. Suddenly, two of his security personnel that was on patrol spotted me.

"Hey you! Freeze!"

I quickly used my short knives and threw it straight into their neck. Blood gushed out of their necks but fortunately they didn't make any noise that would raise the alarm. I want to end this quickly. I used my grappling hook to bring myself to the balcony.

As soon as I reached the balcony, I realized I made a big mistake. A small girl, around the age of four, was on the balcony looking straight at me.

"Who are you? What are you doing here? Are you one of papa's friends?"

"I'm very lonely will you be my friend?"

She asked me those questions but I stayed silent. I had no other choice, Hei Syndicate policy is to kill all witnesses. But I did not want to kill an innocent kid. I knocked the little girl unconscious and continued with my original mission of killing Mr. Tyler. I entered the room that Mr. Tyler was resting at. There he was sleeping in his king size bed without a care in the world. I felt sorry for his daughter but I can't fail this mission. I ended Mr. Tyler's life quickly and as painlessly as possible. For a moment I felt guilt, guilt of knowing I killed someone father right in front of them and leaving them fatherless.

I leave the mansion as quickly as possible. Staying there for a bit longer would be troublesome for me. By the time I had finished my mission it was already five in the morning. Not to forget I have an exam that day.

I arrive at my house. Trying to sneak in through the balcony of my room and getting at least one hour of sleep before I go to Oxvard University. I then crawled over to my bed after changing out of my assassin attire. After that everything went blank.

"Oiiiiiii!! Wake up Rizara you have an exam in one hour"

An hour later, I was woken up by a familiar face.

"Huh? What?"

I couldn't see properly but after rubbing my eyes I could see that It was my twin sister Rizana. She is the only family I currently have as the whereabouts of our parents are unknown. Our parents left us at when we were four years old just like that little girl I saw on the balcony.

Ever since they left us we have always worked together to survive. Unlike me Rizana is a completely normal person and has no affiliation with the syndicate.

"Rizara you are going to be late for your exam later."

"No worries I got this, I am the number one student at the university after all. Hahahahaha"

During the night I have a more serious personality while during the day I have a more carefree personality although if I were to choose which one was my real personality I would say it would be the one during the night.

"Hmmph, one day you won't be so cocky anymore. Mark my words"

"Sure! Can't wait to see when that will happen."

"Jeez and I even made breakfast for us while you were up snoring in your room"

"Uhhh hehehehe sorry about that I was up late last night."

"Is it that part time work again?"

"Yes unfortunately. Hahaha"

Rizana and I pretty much split the work for the house. I would be the one making the money and she would be the one doing the household chores. The only free time I have is during the night because of all my classes and lectures during the day.

It sounds hard for us but we are actually enjoying our lives like a normal person would. The syndicate does pay good money when I complete a task for them. With that money I could provide all of the things that my precious sister needs and wants. Although there is lingering guilt when I spend the money because I had to kill someone for it. But you know what they say, the world isn't fair anyways.

Rizana and I prepare ourselves to go to Oxvard University. We were really running late and I told Rizana that I would go ahead of her.

"Noooo! Wait for me!!!"

"But I have an exam in fifteen minutes!"

"Are you really going to leave your cute and adorable sister behind?"

Without any hesitation I left with the look of disgust when she said "cute and adorable".

"I was just joking come back!"

"Fine I'll wait for you..."

"Yay! You are the best brother anyone could have!"

After waiting ten minutes for her, we finally left our house. We were both running as fast as we could as there was only five minutes left to get to class. If I were to use my real speed I could make it, but I did not want to leave Rizana behind.

Thirty five minutes later we finally made it to Oxvard University and to my surprise Rizana was just smiling.

"I forgot to tell you I don't have class this period. Teehee"

"What!!?? You made me wait for you and made me late for my exam at the same time!"

"Sorry, but I know you will obviously get the number one position in the exam even if you started late"

Despite what she says, it was true. 

Then out of nowhere I saw her. I saw Erina, the princess of Oxvard University and of a real country somewhere in the far west.

"Rizara I can see you staring at her..."

Unfortunately, Rizana knows that I have this big crush on Erina.

"So you caught me ha... ha... ha...."

Erina from afar noticed that I staring at her and our gaze met each other.

She then started walking towards me...
