CHAPTER II - SUGAR QUILLS
Lily opened up her diary and scribbled the date at the corner of the page. It was warm in the common room. A huge fireplace was making a cozy sound, but Lily was feeling uncomfortable. It was Valentine's day tomorrow. Lily started writing.
"Severus and I had a fight yesterday. I mentioned it before. It bothers me, I still want him to be my friend but at the same time I'm tired of him. He talked about Dark Arts again. You should hear the way he talks about those things, he's so passionate. I got mad and I said he was evil.
But Severus got mad to me. He said that it doesn't mean he's evil if he is interested in stuff like that. But I disagree. He understands evil. And if he understands it, that means there is evil inside of him. I didn't mean he was evil like Death Eaters are. I meant his dark side. I think it's growing stronger.
I can't stand him anymore. All he talks about is curses and dark things. I don't want to know, I don't want those thoughts in my head. I said I don't want to hear it anymore. I said I'm done with him. And he walked away.
james said mean things about him. You should hear the way he talks about Severus.
I'm starting to think he's right."
Lily heard a noise from the window. Her owl was trying to balance on the slippery windowsill. Lily jumped up and rushed to the window. Her package from Flourish and Blotts had arrived. She hoped that her new book would cheer her up.
Lily heard a noise again and turned around. James appeared to the common room with his friends. They were laughing and yelling as always. A small, shy girl, who was sitting in the corner looked a bit scared, and after collecting her belongings she ran quickly away.
James sat down and instantly started to fidget.
- What the..., James mumbled and pulled out Lily's diary.
- Don't touch it! It's mine! Lily screamed and grabbed the diary from his hand.
- Easy there, Evans. I didn't know it was top secret, James laughed and raised his eyebrows.
The diary was a gift from Lily's parents and she really liked it. It had red covers with small, yellow roses. Her name was written on the cover with embossed lettering.
James grabbed the package from her hand.
- What is this? Fifty ways to get bored or something like that? He asked. Lily rolled her eyes.
- You wouldn't understand. I would recommend you a good book but I'm not sure if anything wise or reasonable can survive in your brains. It's The Many Forms Of Magic by Serina Summerbee. Have you ever read an entire book by yourself? Many people do that, you should try sometimes, Lily mocked. James ignored her.
- Hey, fellas, let's go, he said and made a mysterious gesture. His mates jumped up and after a second the common room was quiet again. Lily sat down and sighed. - Evans? She heard James' voice. He had appeared back in the common room.
- Yes? Lily answered and opened up her new book.
- I just wanted to say.. Um. I didn't read your journal. That's all.
Lily was a little confused. This was the first time Lily saw James without a huge grin or cheeky attitude. He seemed almost nervous.
- Okay. That's fine, Lily answered quietly. James nodded and turned around.
- Evans? He asked again. Lily started to feel a little uncomfortable. What was it now?
- Yes?
- You like sugar quills, don't you?
- Yes, they are my favourite.. why did you ask?
James hesitated for a second.
- Nothing. It's nothing.
James left the common room and Lily felt confused again. What was that all about? She tried to read her new book but her thoughts kept running away.
When Lily fell asleep at midnight, the last thoughts in her head was sugar quills.

This was a shorter one. I will publish the third chapter next week. I'd like to hear your thoughts: What do you think about the story?
