~Flashback~
13 years earlier
I woke up to glass breaking and my mom and dad yelling at each other.
Dad: WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO YOURSELF WE HAVE TWO YOUNG DAUGHTERS WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF! AND YOU'RE SITTING HERE DOING DRUGS!
Mom: Tremaine, I'm sorry! *crying*
Dad: SORRY ISN'T ENOUGH!
Me: Stop daddy! *crying*
Alãni: O que está acontecendo?(What's going on?) *rubbing her eyes*
Mom: Lani voltar para o seu quarto.( Lãni go back to your room) You too Zari.
Me: but mommy.
Dad: Go to your sister!
|Next Morning|
I looked downstairs and the living room was all messed up. I ran to my mommy and daddy's room and only my dad was in there.
Me: Daddy. Where's Mommy?
Dad: She .. Went out.
Me: Ok.. Can you cook us breakfast.
Dad: yeah. Go ask your sister if she's hungry.
I went back in my room and saw Alãni up watching Dora. I went over to my piece of paper and read ..
Me: Você está com fome? (Are you hungry?)
Alãni: *nods head*
Me: Vamos descer ( Let's go downstairs)
Alãni: *got up and turned the tv off*
We went downstairs and my dad gave both of us a note from our mom. Mine in english and Alãni's in Portuguese.
Dear Zari,
I'm sorry for leaving without saying I love you. Mommy and Daddy got into a argument. By the time you wake up I'm gonna be on my way to Brazil. I just want you to remember me.

Then there was a picture of me in her together.
I looked over at Alãni and she was crying.

Tears started pouring down my eyes as I looked at my heart locket with that picture my mom left.
