Alexa's pov
"Why do you have to go Kyle?" I ask.
"Look I have to go but I promise you I'll be back soon." He says.
"They all say that." I mumble.
"Alexa promise me you'll see the something other then our friendship when I leave? I want you to see what else is out there, I don't want to hold you back." He says putting the suitcase down.
"You were--" I begin to say.
Kyle stops me before I can go on,
"I have to go know I'll see you soon." He says giving me one last hug before me leaves.
I sigh as he gets in the car and drives off.
That's the last time I heard from Kyle before he left. No text messages, no phone calls, no letters, nothing. What happened from being best friends to acting like no bodies?
It's been two years since he left, I'm now a senior in high school which would mean Kyle would be a senior as well. I wonder how he's doing. I've tried to call but his mom always says he's busy. Something doesn't feel right. His mom loves me, she would never lie to me. Right?
I want to talk to Kyle but I know he won't talk to me. My mom says 'its just a phase', but how can someone go through a phase for 2 years! It makes no sense.
"Alexa! Come down here someone wants to see you!" Tyler my wonder 16 year old brother yells.
"Coming!" I yell back.
I grab my coat and walk downstairs.
"Who is it?" I ask.
I turn and see Kyle standing there.
"Kyle?" I ask in disbelief.
"Yeah it's me, you've changed a lot." He says.
He opens his arm and I walk into them. I missed this. But something doesn't feel right.
I pull away and say
"How have you been?"
"Great." He says with a smile. "I have a girlfriend."
My heart stops, everything freezes in time. I somehow manage to say
" That's great really is, who is she?"
He smiles even bigger and says
"Taylor Hider."
Everything stops, Tyler looks at me and bites his lip. He knows how hard this is.
