You do what society tells you
And listen to it say you're doing it wrong
Then it says "At least you tried."
But they've been laughing behind your back all along"You are beautiful as yourself." society says
While telling you
"Wear some makeup. Dress like this."
What am I supposed to doDo I be myself while they laugh
Or be fake like all the other girls
So that they approve
I can no longer live in this worldThis world of hate
With no acceptance that people can be unique
This world with no love
It's making me weakTo know that I'm a lover
In this world of fighting
To know I'm crying
As people watch laughingAs society watches me struggle
And makes jokes as I do
While I sit here taking the blows
I watch as I get hurt by youTruth is you are society
A part of it at least
Telling me what to do with my life
Telling me the demands I need to meetI finally start giving up
My life is slowly fading away
"Why did she leave. She will be missed."
Is what society will say
