We were in Santa Monica. I love being with Dad. It's great. Then I see a cute boy. Then I realize it's Malachi. He's one of the most popular guys in school and the total sweetheart.
"Hey Dejanique." He says.
"Hey Malachi. This is my Dad." I say.
My Dad raises an eyebrow and I tug his muscular arm.
"Nice to finally meet you Malachi. I heard a lot about you." Dad says.
"I hope good things. I'll see you around Dejanique" He says.
Dad pulls me in close.
"So that's the guy you been emailing your old man about?" He says.
"Yes Pops. Don't worry I don't have a chance." I say.
"Niq never say that you an August." He says.
"So you give me permission to date?" I ask.
"Yeah. I know I'm going to be touring a lot doesn't mean that shouldn't interfere with you. I love you baby girl." He says.
