***Part one***
It's 9:32 p.m. The rain fell from the darkest skies above. The walk home from the town wasn't pleasant. My head was soaked, and my mascara ran slowly down my cheeks from running out of the restaurant crying. Jake, my now ex-boyfriend, hurt me just like every other guy I have dated. Once again I'm a loner.

I kicked off my converse, and walked into the kitchen.

"Dad?" I called out. "Are you home?"

Next to the kitchen is the study. My dad usually keeps himself in the study doing work. For once in a long time, I didn't see him there.

"I'm upstairs Brianna!"

I walked up the stairs one by one thinking of how my dad will react when I tell him about Jake. He was never the calm type. Ever since my mom passed away when I was 15, he was always trying to give me dating advice. One day I confronted him about his advice because it was too 'over the top.' Before I knew it he was lecturing me how he was just trying to help. That was the last time I ever confronted him about anything.

Dad was sitting in mom's old wooden rocking chair that was in the corner or his room. He was holding his copy of To Kill a Mockingbird with his reading glasses on. I felt bad for him. It's been 3 years since mom passed, and dad kind of went into a depression. Every night he is either in the study looking at old photo albums when he is finished with work, or in his room in the rocking chair reading some book.

He looked concerned as I walked in. "Bri, why are you soaked? Didn't Jake bring you home in his car?"

"Thats what I came to talk about," I paused for a moment but didn't hesitate to tell him. "I walked home from the town in the rain tonight, because Jake dumped me."

"What? Why honey? Are you okay? Do you need anyth-"

"Please Dad! Don't start with all the questions! I'm okay! I'm just pissed at him."

"Brianna! Watch your language!" Dad yelled at me. Sometimes he forgets that I'm 18, and can speak freely. Now most people would be out of the house at 18, but I cant leave him. He's too lonely. I am all he has left.

"Now Brianna are you sure you don't want me to talk to him for you?"

I looked at my dad with a blank expression. "Dad. Please. Listen to me carefully. I..will..be..okay!" He gave a little nod to show he understands. I walked back downstairs to get a towel to dry off my hair. I looked in the mirror while I was in the bathroom. My platinum blonde hair was down to my side. I got a rag and washed off my make-up. When my hair was dry I brushed it all out then changed into my pjs. I Brianna Marie Stewart am tired of drama, tired of people, and most importantly tired of being alone.
