Two sets of Twins

Theo was having a go at another lad in the boys locker rooms, when I heard hushed whispers from behind me. I turn to see other boys parting to let through two boys.

They'd have been identical twins if one of them didn't have triple piercings and a small red streak on his fringe.

They had jet black hair and chocolate brown eyes. Tall and with buff, they strode emotionlessly to the lockers beside mine.

"Um...new?" I asked, trying to be friendly.

"Yes. We are in Year 9." the one without piercings and red fringe stated, before offering his hand, "My name is Thanka Kutti."

"Daniel." I shook his hand, "Year 10. My best mate, Theo, also year 10."

Theo waved to Thanka briefly before continuing his row with the other dude.

"My twin Coli. Dude, say hi." he nudged Coli. Coli briefly nodded his head, then seemed to shrink behind Thanka.

"Don't mind him." Thanka began conversing with Coli rapidly in some foreign language, and Coli replied just as rapidly.

"Oh yeah, our younger cousin told us about you. Night."

Time froze. Theo turned in slow motion, and Acorn looked like he wanted to faint.

"YOU ARE GOTH GIRL'S COUSINS?????" Theo yelled. "YOU AREN'T EVEN CREEPY, AND YOU OBVIOUSLY CAN'T READ MY MIND."

"Um..." Thanka smiled awkwardly, "Yeah our cousin is a bit...unique lets just say."

"She's sure unique alright." stammered Acorn. "She nearly killed me the other day."

Coli snorted. "She'd never beat up small fry like you. She is far too honourable to pick on the weak." His voice was sharp, unlike Thanka's firm but gentle voice.

"Oi, she kicked me HARD the other day." retaliated Theo. Coli gave him a hard look.

"Well you're obviously an exception."

"She takes orders from an absolute Bit-"

"OKAY!!!!!!!" I pushed Theo back from advancing on Coli, who stalked out the locker room.

"Was that MY fault??????" Acorn was hyperventilating, "I AM SOOOOOOOO SORRY!!!!!!"

"It's cool dude. Coli's just always been like that. He's not a bad guy really." Thanka sighed heavily.

The whole day however, Coli made a point to ignore me, Theo and even Thanka, walking alone along the hallways, his earrings jingling musically and his fists balled. Every time poor Acorn came across him, he'd be given a cold glare.

At Lunch time, Night approached Thanka and gave him a monotonous hug, which looked pretty cute.

She also gave Coli a hug, and he ruffled her tangle of hair in return. Then stalked off.

"You two aren't interesting enough..." Night sighed.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

Me, Theo, and Acorn were sitting on a bench on the lush green oval.

"Think about all the things you two could've done if you looked identical." Night explained. "So much havoc..." she whispered the last part looking quite sad.

"Well I wasn't the one who got the piercings and 'blood' in my hair." grumbled Thanka.

"Oh, I suppose you know that Mineur and Majeur are coming here too." Night continued.

Thanka looked guilty.

"Yeah..."

"Huh?" Acorn looked confused. "Who are they?"

Night pinched his chin with her long, shiny, black fingernails. "You reaaaallllly want to know...how foolish..."

"Oh come off it Night." grumbled Thanka and turned to Acorn, "They are her cousins from her mother's side of the family."

"And the big deal is...?" Theo asked looking bored.

"They are bi-racial." Thanka said, and I could've sworn through his brown skin I saw a tinge of red.

"Is that a big deal?" I asked surprised. "That sort of stuff doesn't matter anymore."

"In public yes, but in many traditions...it's a big deal." Thanka sighed. "I'm sure you can tell that Night is not purely Sri Lankan. She's a quarter English, but the only difference it makes is that her skin is lighter compared to us. Other than that, she talks, looks and acts like a Sri Lankan. Except, Sri Lankan girls are MEANT to be girly..." he muttered.

"So what's the big deal with these other cousins?" asked Acorn looking nervous.

"My mother wasn't just English, she was also half Sri Lankan. She was raised in Sri Lanka, thinks like a Sri Lankan, acts like one." Night murmured softly. "She just doesn't look like a Sri Lankan, that's all."

"But Mineur and Majeur's Mother was Night's half sister. Her mum died, then her father met Night's grandma."

"So in a nutshell, Night's mother's half sisters daughters cause you some sort of...discomfort?"

Thanka laughed. "On the contrary, no. They cause discomfort to my side of the family; Night's father's side."

"Ahhh..." Theo, Acorn and I chorused, but I could tell they still didn't get it-Neither did I.

"Bonjour!!!! Night!!!!" We all noticed two girls sashaying towards us.

Twins. ANOTHER set of twins.

Sleek and straight brown hair. Light skin. Azure blue eyes. Tall and had a distinct feminine air about them.

Reaching Night, they took turns to kiss Night's light brown cheeks. She stared back with pitch black orbs into their alluring blue orbs.

"Majeur. Mineur. Comment Ca va?"

"Tres bien cousine, et toi?" one of them answered.

My French grades were incredibly low, so I didn't understand a word of what they were saying...except for the 'Bonjour' part; I know it means hello...

Night's French was amazingly good. She continued conversing, until one of them noticed Thanka.

"Ah...Thanka." she said slowly.

"Majeur..." Thanka nodded.

I suppose it was Mineur, but the other girl looked around. "Where is Coli?"

"Probably trying to avoid you guys..." sighed Thanka. "I'm sorry about him."

"Non Non!!!" Majeur waved her hands around. "It's all right Thanka. C'est bien."

"Majeur...Mineur...this is Noah, Acorn and Theo..." murmured Night. "Theo is Katy's brother. Noah is his best friend and Acorn is..." a rare smile came upon her face, it was one of those psychopathic ones, not the sweet ones she gives her friends, "my personal plaything..."

Awkward Silence. Then Acorn fainted.

"Ah. I was hoping he'd hyperventilate...he's funny when he does that..." muttered Night, before walking away.

"So...I guess you are Half English Half French?" I sparked conversation.

"Oui Oui!!! We have lived in France almost ALL our lives!!!" one of them quirked.

Then one of them pulled out a pair of fancy, gaudy red and orange striped specs. Placing it one her nose, she grinned at us.

"My name is Mineur."

"I am Majeur." Majeur flitted back.

"Pleased to meet you." they chorused.

"Um...so what are we gonna do about Acorn?" Theo asked quizzically looking at the poor auburn headed boy who still lay on the grass, his large black frames askew.

"Oi."

We turn to see Coli, glaring.

"Oh yeah did I mention that Coli hates Mineur?" muttered Thanka.
