Tears stained my cheeks as he let out his last breath.
"Bye..." I mumbled, and his pillow sank a little. He was... dead. I had lost my father in a train accident when I was just a small child. My mother had died of cancer two years ago. And now... I looked away, unable to look my brother in the face. He was the last of my family, apart from my Uncle Federick. He was the last person I wanted to see. I knew he was standing behind the door, probably jeering. I stood up, shaking.
"Noo..." I whispered to myself. I took a slow step toward the door. I took each step one at a time, slowly inching my way to the end of my life. "There's no other option..." I mumbled to myself. I put my hand over the doorknob, hisitant. I was about to turn it, when suddenly I jerked my whole body back, and ran to the window on the other side. I launched my body through it, as glass shattered all around me. I had probably cut myself, but that was the least of my worries.
I had ready made a plan in my head: I would reach the bottom and live on the streets. It couldn't be too-
My thoughts were scattered, as I landed at the bottom. I couldn't move. I couldn't scream out. Am I dead?
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a crowd starting around me. They people all looked frightened, pitiful, concerned. A boy appraoched. He had dyed his hair an odd shade of green, and wasn't exactly tall. He wore a red sweatshirt that read ALH in gold letters, and kahki pants, like a school uniform.
None of the crowd acknoledged him as he said "All right, that's enough."
Was he talking to me? I tried to ask him, but it didn't work.
"Oh, yeah!" he pulled a vial out of his pocket and poured it on my body.
"WHAT THE HELL?!?!" I screamed, jumping to my feet.
"Look down," he said. I obeyed... and saw... myself.
"You're a spirit. Or a ghost. Whatever you wanna call it," he said. "You've also got a tail, look."
I looked down and saw a glowing tail, that changed colors like a rainbow. I looked at the crowd, expecting them to react.
"They can't see you."
"What?"
"The people. They can't see you. You're a ghost now," he sighed and turned around.
"Wh- where are you going?!"
"School. I suggest you follow before you're pulled into hell."
"What?!"
He pointed at my feet. Long black snakes had wrapped around my ankles. I screamed and jumped out of their grasp. I ran toward the boy and bumped into him.
"I didn't catch your name," I said.
"Well... you can call me Ben."
"Okay... Ben," I said. "My name is Sam."
He started walking. "Isn't that a boys' name?"
"IT'S SHORT FOR SAMANTHA, YOU TWAT!"
"... twat...?"
"Shut up."
"Whatever," he said.
Ben lead us to a tram, that we road for four hours. I sat thinking, and it suddenly hit me. I'm dead. I sighed and stared out the window, until the tram came to a stop, and Ben lead me off.
