Chapter 1- Zander

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock blaring across the room. I groaned and got out of bed cursing under my breath.

I went into my en suite bathroom and shut the door. I stripped out of my clothes and got into the hot shower.

After I finished my shower I put on some black combat boots, ripped jeans, and a loose white tank top with my signature black leather jacket.

I walked downstairs to see my dad and brother eating in the kitchen. I smiled at my dad and he gave me my plate of pancakes and eggs.

"Finally." My brother, Zac, said.

"Good morning to you too Zac." I mumbled under my breath.

"Look Amber, I don't want to put up with your shit today. I have a huge hangover." He said throw clenched teeth.

"Why did you even go partying when you know you had college classes today?" I asked him curiously.

"Amber.." My dad warned.

"Wow, thanks you guys. I feel the love." I said and stood up to put my dirty dishes into the sink, "See ya."

I grabbed my backpack and headed out to my BMW M235i, also known as Ivy, my baby. I saved up enough money for him. He's my pride and joy.

I got in and headed out the driveway and to Lockwood High School. As I was driving, I saw police cars surrounding a black car that was crashed into a pole.

I met my best friend, Rosy, by the gate and we walked into the school.

"Did you see the accident while you were driving to school?" I asked her curiously. She nodded and said,

"Yeah actually, the news said that it was caused by a person stepping out into the street and almost got hit." She said holding up her phone.

"Hmm, that's strange. No one usually walks out like that. Unless..." I trailed off waiting now for her to figure it out.

"Seriously Am, there are no such things as vampires." She said rolling her eyes.

"You never know." She smacked me upside the head while I burst out laughing.

We stopped at my locker and i turned around and said,

"See you in second period."

"See ya" she gave me a hug and then walked off.

I got my books from my locker and was surprised to see Stephen heading towards me. Stephen is my other best friend beside Rosy. I also may have a little crush on him since seventh grade.

"Hey Steph. What's up?" I asked him when he came to a full stop I front of me.

"Hey, can you do something for me?" He asked me with a hint of nervousness in his tone.

"Depends. What is it?" I asked and he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Will you go to the winter formal with me?" He asked with seriousness and nervousness.
