"Phil what's wrong?" Dan asked. "You've been out of sorts all day."
The older man bit his lip and shrugged. "Nothing, I'm alright. I promise."
Dan looked at his flatmate for a moment. "No, you're not. I dunno what it is, but something's bothering you and you're not telling me."
Phil looked almost ready to cry, and he suddenly grabbed his best friend's neck and pulled him into a kiss.
Shocked, Dan's hands hung at his sides. The kiss wasn't bad, but c'mon, this was Phil! His best mate!
When Phil slowly pulled away after a long moment, Dan was blushing. "Ph-phil..."
"There, now you know that I'm a freak. I know you don't feel the same, but I had to do it. I couldn't hide it anymore, it was killing me." Phil said sadly, hugging his pale arms around himself.
Dan was still trying to process what was happening. "What? Phil, I-I don't mind that you're gay. You're not a freak. It's just...I'm surprised, is all. How long have you...liked me?"
The older boy looked up at him through black fringe. "A few years..."
"Wow. I wish I'd known." Dan said.
Now Phil looked curious. "Why?"
Dan smiled cheekily. "Because I like you too." He said, reaching for Phil, for another kiss.
AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER WITH MANY HOUSEPLANTS.
