Austin Hamilton was just an ordinary 5 year old boy. Everything surrounding him was so amazing in his eyes. Expecially butterflies. It may have been the way that they flew threw the air or the gracefulnss and peacefulness to them. Whatever it was, whenever Austin would see one, he would stop and stare. He wanted to know absolutely everything about them.
As Austin grew older, he would run though the fields in the back of his house trying so hard to catch them. But at the end of the day, when he would come inside, his parents would always ask him if he had caught and butterflies and he would reply with a little pout on his face "No." So as a surprise, his parents bought little Austin a bug net, bugbox, and a magnifying glass. Austin couldn't wait to go out and see if he could catch some now. And sure enough he did. He would study the butterflies one at a time, with care. He sometimes would spend the whole day examining the glorious prizes he had won. His butterflies.
Once again, as he grew older his obsession grew with him. His room was filled with posters and diagrams. And of course butterflies. Monarchs, Black swallow tails, Milbert's tortoiseshells. Even cacoons. He spent hours and hours up in his room, monitoring, taking notes, making graphs, of everything that his butterflies were doing. He would even have his little fairwells when he let them go. This went on and on, But when Austin hit the age of 15, he grew so attached to them that he didn't want to ever let them go again. So he went out and bought special pins, cork boards and glass frames. Can you guess what Austin is going to do? Yes, he pinned them dowm and preserved them so he would never have to say goodbye ever again.
Around this time, Austin believed he had met the girl of his dreams. Sally Sewter. "She is beautiful, just like my butterflies." Austin would think. When he finally got up the nerve to ask her out,Sally was overjoyed and said yes! Everything between them was great, until Austin decied to show Sally his collection. So one day after school, Austin lead sally up his stairs and right into his room. When Sally saw all of the frames filled with dead and pinned butterflies she ran out as quickly as her little legs could carry her. Now Sally was a huge animal and nature lover, and she thought that what Austin was doing was disgusting and wrong. She broke the relationship off. But Sally wasn't done there, she told the entire school about what she had seen. That turned Austin Hamilton into the school freak. Austin felt betrayed and alone. Even with all of his butterflies. Soon after the break-up, Austin grew annoyed with the fluttering arond of the butterflies and ripped off their wings and framed those too. "There, problem solved." he would think.
A couple more years went by and Austin was now 20. And yes, he still had his obsession. But it was growing worse by the minute. Also Austin was not yet over Sally. He thought about her everyday, about the way her beautiful long blond hair flew threw the wind, the way her eyes sparkle when light glinted off of them. But the problem was, he hated her so much. He wanted to seek revenge for what she did to him.
Austin's obsession hit a breaking point one day. He realized that butterflies weren't cutting it. He needed something more.
Austin sat down at his desk getting all of his butterfly equipment ready. As the turned around, his eye caught glimpse of golden hair poking out from his dufle bag. As he unzipped the bag , he the eyes of the person he once loved staring back at him begging for help. "Oh Sally Sewter, Oh Sally Sewter. Next time don't mess with the butterfly guy." Austin whispered with a sly smile spreading across his face.He stroked her hair as he slowly and carefully cut off her arms and pinned them on the wall.
