"You're grounded for a month young man!!" his dad thundered, giving the ultimatum. "No cars, no money, you've got to work to earn your keep."
"But Dad! You've got to be kidding me. I...."
"For the umpteenth time, you happen to disgrace our family name. Why do you keep on chasing girls only to make them cry. And a family and business friend for Pete's sake."
Hunter looked grim and mad. He couldn't very well tell his dad that it was all a Bet. He lost and he needed to do that or else he got to let go of his latest car. Or pay the price.
Hunter looked around. He had been transported by their family driver to a not so crowded town many miles apart from their city home. It was a four hour uncomfortable travel time of his life. He hadn't rode on a car without him driving it ever since he learned to drive at 10. They stopped on a not so big building, with a coffee shop on the base floor. It looked like the town proper and yet there so few people. Jesus Christ I couldn't live here he thought darkly. He went to fished for his cellphone and realized that it had been confiscated too by his dad. Great. Just Great. One month.
Bliss looked outside and immediately noticed a car parked outside the building. It must be the "one" that her mom mentioned to her this morning. The one that needs reprimanding. Her mom had been adamant on getting her to live with her on the city and take on the family business but Bliss wasn't budging. She grew up in this town and don't want anything to do with city life. And besides, her heart had been for serving others not for earning. She was a volunteer for so many years now for a Mission that feeds the poor and needy. That's why she cant leave this place.
Two people got out of the car and headed for the coffee shop. That must be them, Bliss said thoughtfully watching them enter. She was sitted at the far corner of the shop. She was busy tallying the total sales and expenses report.
"Excuse me, He's the new crew." The older man told her cashier while the young one scowled.
She saw her cashier's eyes looked appreciatively at the younger guy. Well cant blame her. He was good looking, Bliss thought.
" Ah yes. You're right on time, customers were going to be here soon. If you would follow me, I'll give you our uniform at the back office." Jillian said, her ever efficient cashier and barista.
"Hunter, Ill be going now. I'll pick you up next month," the older guy said.
So he's Hunter huh?? Nice name, Bliss said. The shop was cozy. Good enough for 20 people but a little crowded for 30 so she cant helped it if conversations can be heard from across.
"Next month!! Where will I live?? I cant stay here." The young guy told the older man.
"Well I'm just following orders." That's all he said and went out. Hunter went to follow Jillian at the back office and when he went back he was wearing the Blissed Coffee Uniform. He's dashing. He might attract many customers, Bliss thought happily. More customers, more help for the needy.
Hunter scowled. The Blissed Coffee shop wasn't exactly where he would like to hang out. It wasn't really swarming with customers. In a quiet town like these its even a miracle if they ever had a bar. Where's the people here?? He scanned the shop. Aside from the cashier, two barista's and a server, who seemed moody as hell, the place wasn't exactly crowded. There's just two oldies drinking coffee, a teenager who keeps looking at him, a couple where the girl by the way keeps looking at him too and some freak girl at the back of the shop who seem to be working on a project, her laptop on.
